Hi all,
I ordered a new heater control surround from the dealers as the one i have looks like the coating is peeling away (you can see this in a picture below), but when I've compared the new part to my old one, they look completely different. My current part is a dark black, and looks like it has a rubber like coating, whereas the brand new part looks like its a lighter black, and has been powered coated.
The part number i ordered was 1K0 858 069 L 1QB
I've tried searching online, but cannot find anything "black" part number.
Am i missing something?? :scared:

Oh i see!! I'll give the dealers a ring now and ask if they can order me the that part number and i'll return the other one! Cheers MIJ :happy2:

The later mk5 Golfs don't have that rubber touch layer that peels over time. You got the revised part.

It all makes sense now! wish id have known this before i ordered the part. Means i need to take another trip to pick up / swap parts :scared: :scared:
I've rang the dealership up, but they need the 3 digit colour code for the end of the part number. Does anyone happen to know what this would be :)? I'd don't want to assume its 1QB

The old black revision surround trim is 1K0 819 728 E 1QA or 1K0 819 153 B 1QA.

Does the new one match colour-wise to the heater vent?

I'll have to double check, but i doubt it. The heater vent matches the rubber coating on the heater control surround.

Found this on eBay when searching for the part number that MIJ suggested - 1K0858071E
if you look at the third picture along, it shows the part number stated above, but also the part number 1K0 858 069 G, although the revision letter, G, seems to be upside down!
Using an online EKTA, i found this, with the colour digits 1QA. However, I'm unsure if this part number is what I'm after though!

Yes just seen those match up with what you wrote! :happy2: Obviously those part numbers aren't the trim i'm after, but hopefully the 1QA code is the rubber like coating i need for the heating surround trim! cheers :)

Yeah, ETKA just shows the latest revision available for some parts. The surround trim on the MY2005 mk5 Golfs stated those parts numbers that I confused with the older surround trims. :ashamed:
-
I did think it would show only the latest revisions!
Hopefully i can sort this out tomorrow. I have two part numbers to try now, along with the colour code code "1QA"
1K0 858 071 E 1QA
1K0 858 069 G 1QA

Yesterday, I ended up removing the heater surround from the car to check the part numbers.

Unfortunately the parts software the dealership use was down when we tried to search for the part numbers, so they said they would ring me on Monday. Hopefully thid can be sorted and I can order the correct part :happy2:
