Title: Cruise Control P/No. Check
Post by: rdfcpete on September 17, 2010, 07:41:04 pm
I'm fairly confident this is the correct part, but can I check if 1K0 953 513 G9 B9 will fit my 2006 3 Door GTI please guys?

The part is a 'VW GOLF CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH' and comes directly from a Skoda dealership with a very good reputation.
I contacted them and they assured me 99.9% that it's the right part, but they couldn't guarantee this and advised me to check with the right sources.

Thanks.

Just had one fitted to my 57 reg 08 model Golf Edition 30 last week, fitting instructions in the box give part no for Golf 2004> as
1K0 054 690 A
1K0 054 691 A
1K0 054 692
Part no on outside of box is 1K0 054 690 A
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I don't think that does Stephen, but thanks none the less.

Mines not an Ed30 and thus is older, so I'm still unsure tbh. It's a good price so it'd be good to know. I'm fairly sure I can code VCDS to know about it anyway as long as it's a Mk5 Golf Stalk?

1K0 953 513 G 9B9 is the one for your car.

1K0 953 513 G is the part number.

9B9 is the colour satin black.

1K0 054 690 A is a proper retrofit kit.

In fact, I think I'll need the wiring loom too won't I?

I can do the VCDS side of it, but the stalk on it's own isn't enough IIRC?

I might be wrong here but when the Guru put mine in im sure it was just the Stalk.

You can have a look and see if you need the wire but it's almost doing the job to check.

Options are buy the stalk you found, which incidentally isn't overly cheap, or buy the kit using the number above which will include a wire just in case.

Simplessssss   :happy2:

You're right Stu, that is pricey considering VW just told me they do the retrofit kit (1K0 054 690 A) for £60 including VAT  :happy2:

I might go for that. They offered the usual £150 for fitting but I think I'll attempt it myself.
Cheers

You're right Stu

It does happen occaisionally  :innocent:

I often tell people to buy the kit which not only includes the wire but also a nice set of instructions, sadly many are blinkered that eBay is cheaper and that all dealers are out to rob them of the clothes on their back.

Heh.

It's interesting you say that as I've seen good handful of VW dealers, particularly in the north east it seems, sell brand new parts on ebay for much cheaper, the same and more than the average dealer prices. My arm rest retrofit kit was from a VW dealer on eBay at about £50 lower than buying all the parts directly through the dealer and I saved about £6 on a brand new GTI keyring from a dealer somewhere in the Newcastle area too.

In fact that CC stalk as mentioned is a Skoda dealer on eBay; so I'm a bit lost as to why Skoda are selling a VW part, brand new, for more £ than VW sell a VW part for in their own dealerships?

Perhaps its only Skoda labelled VW parts that they let go at better prices.
