Hi guys I have an alarm fault were the alarm goes off the lights flash but no noise from the siren,im guessing its the siren itself but just want to see if anyone has had any other issues?
-
Had the same thing with mine when purchased in 2016. Same symptoms along with a fault code for "alarm siren - intermittent signal" or something along those lines, too. A new siren + half hour labour at my garage sorted it.
-
Cool, thanks.

Sorry to jump in!, I have the same problem and wondering if any 'coding / resetting' via vag-com would be needed after swapping
the siren? and will any fit even though the end of the part number has different letters?,
Thank You, Emm's

It's just a speaker with a battery inside it, so shouldn't need any coding. So long as the xxx xxx xxx number matches, the revision suffix letter at the end doesn't matter. The newer, the better usually.

Sorry to bump an old thread but Im having the same problem Did you find a solution to this?
-
Replaced the 'siren' and now have a 'alarm' again!! :happy2:
-
Still need to do mine. Is it loud and annoying like a cheap aftermarket alarm?
How much was the siren module? I hear they are expensive from VW.
Did your arm / disarm chirps still work inspite of a dead siren? Mine do!
-
I got it on the 'auction' site!!….
I went for a newest one I could find (date on the front) and It was about £25 (including postage), I haven't got the 'alarm beep' - still hoping to find someone close to me to enable this!!
I wouldn't say its very loud - but nice to have it back so I at least know that its my alarm 'going off'!
It looked a different style siren than the one that was in my car - but had it fitted when I had the wings replaced and they didn't say there was any issues - do check it out though just incase  (think the new one I bought was maybe from an Audi) :happy2:
-
Thanks for that! Can you not set the chirps via the MFD stalk/steering wheel buttons thing a majig?

Nah, don't think so. Your possibly thinking of coming home lights.
It's in VCDS.

Thanks mate. I have VCDS, but annoying for people who don't to have to visit the dealer for such a simple thing! Which also attracts a ~£100 minimum 1 hour labour charge to hook their scan tool up!

Mine was £155.44 inc VAT from the dealer the other week.

I've gone down a different path.
AliExpress for $40.
Will post once fitted.
-
I've just bought a new genuine one from ebay for £117. :surprised:
Does anyone know what rivets are needed to refit the box the siren sits in? Or what might work instead of rivets.
-
Did you go for the 'F' siren? - I am assuming that the 'F' fitted (as the bodyshop) fitted mine - just wondering if that is the current siren part number and fitting is all good? :happy2:
-
last night I bought the siren with the C suffix and have just been mailed from the parts company to say C is the old part and I'll be getting one with the F suffix as that is the current part and it'll work fine.
-
Mine was a revision F. The rivets are 6mm diameter. Most rivet guns don't handle rivets that large. Maybe try to find some suitable plastic captive nuts to push in the holes and use screws instead.

Re-opening old threat .....
I have recently replaced my alarm siren as it was draining my battery.
I have the F revision fitted but the siren is not sounding still, only indicators flashing. Noting mention of a internal battery, does this need to charge before working?
Any help appreciated.
thank you
Paul
