Hello new member here ive just bought a mk5 Gti Golf 3 door and ive been searching through your site and could not find any definitive answers or updates to how everyone go on with quietening down there mk5 Gti. (mostly found old posts from 2012 lol)

my biggest questions are as follows

1. Is dynamatting the boot area etc worth it? and is dynamat still the best product to use or has there been better technology since?

2. Whats the best tyre to get for good grip but still being nice and quiet? (would love to hear other mk5 gti owners tried and tested opinions on what really helped quiet there cars down)

i am currently looking for a set of 17 inch monzas as my car has 18 inch on it atm

thanks for any help given  :notworthy:

I bought these off Lockwood they're also on eBay for my import. If you look after 50 mph the increments change. So for some reason on import cars the Speedo doesn't go up in a linear fashion.

New PCV and redone vac pump seal. Just the brake booster hose left to do next week to stop the vaccum leak I've got. Then I'm pretty happy with where the car is at!

My bolt rounded too  :sad1:

The other way to deal with this is time up the engine, remove the cambelt and then loosen the cam carrier so the camshaft can be moved. This'll release the chain.

Process of elimination when fault finding.  Start with one thing and continue.........sods law it is always the last thing to check, well it is usually with me

Thanks.  Ordered the cam locking tool and had planned to weld the lobes also when it comes........seems to be common practice  :happy2:

Hi mate, yeah I welded around the lobes on my locking tool to reenforce it,unfortunately never got to finding out if it was good enough as the bolt rounded 😂 thank you for confirming the genuine part being INA, awaiting my INA one to  come so I can then drill the bolt out, replace adjuster and rings again and fingers crossed be job done 👌🏻 it’s all fun and games isn’t it 😂

A fuse issue, Connector to headlight issue (water ingress etc), grounding issue etc

Is there any in particular that you'd recommend checking to start? I have no idea what would cause this as it's front AND back and only on one side...

Is your indicator stalk up for turning right and putting the park lights on.

Everything was off. Also the indicator wasn't lighting up - it was the yellow side marker underneath the headlight. So weird.
