Noting here that this review is for the 3dr and not the 5dr so i wont be covering the rear deflectors, you have to order the rear separately.
i bought mine from here: http://www.palmautomotive.co.uk/ at a cost of £44.95 delivered
i know these will not be to 99% of peoples taste but they look pretty flush on the car, and the fitment is good.
so what do you get for your money?
well basically nothing more than this:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMy_R32%2FCandy%2Fwindowvents01.jpg&hash=34a57867449f3459a98e047f8f16c90d44d0aa76)
so here's how to fit them, should take no more than 10-20 seconds per side, easy to just pop them in and out as you need to if the window's down
start by lowering the windows
it's very apparent which side is which, start by placing the lower corner or the deflectors edge into the lower corner of the bottom of the window frame
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit001.jpg&hash=e81973090d598d3e7535b7ebdb3189e594c100bd)
it's vital that the edge sits on top of the window rubber..not inside it, like so...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit002.jpg&hash=ff5410346568cc2babc25544172c2e43f67d607f)
whilst maintaining slight but not heavy downward pressure, locate the top edge of the deflector inside the window frame
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit003.jpg&hash=4976290061601bedebd26a12c309a6e71140afc7)
keeping a hold of it as you don't want to drop it and scratch it we move to the other end and we're aiming to go inside the frame at the top here too, tucking into the frame.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit004.jpg&hash=3557870ab9866669664885155ef48d39f6617e10)
gentle apply pressure towards the front of the car and allow the deflector to bow outwards
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit005.jpg&hash=44461f64ffa320f7ace52ae79109c06aad4e3394)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit006.jpg&hash=fce68f456a39f9b5a1962a48a8e7f9b53986790c)
now using 2 hands (i didn't cos i was holding the camera) start in the center and work to the sides both left and right at the same time, tipping and pushing at the same time and the deflector will happily slide home inside the frame
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Freviews%2FWind_Deflectors%2Ffit007.jpg&hash=a3bfbb12c7b5e1f2ea9341d609b5aaababd1b15c)
put the windows up and down a few times to make sure they're seated ok
The results:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMy_R32%2FCandy%2Fwindowvents03.jpg&hash=adc5c4f281ae65b71b581a52675a1854ed068924)
a bit closer, they sit very nice and flush and puff the sides of the car out a little, oh and nice and OEM looking once i rid them of that little blue transfer

the window just catches so makes a click noise but that will go after the windows been up and down a few times
Questions i know you want to hear:
Do they stop the rain dripping in from the roof?
yup.
What are these like at speed?
I've had no worries at all, all the way up to the speed limit and back, nice and quiet
How is it with the sunshine roof open? Does it still release the cabin pressure waves?
Yes it does, the cabin is quieter with the front windows down just a touch too whereas before the air just came flying in
Verdict
- Nice Light Smoke in colour
- Improves Ventilation And Airflow For More Comfort
- Tough Acrylic Material
- Custom Moulded Aerodynamic Styling so not fat and 4x4ish
- Easy Secure Fit into Window seals - not the low quality glued on type
- Compression fitment so very fast to take on and off
Hope this helps :happy2:
Peace.

Excellent!
I want some of these and your review answers all my questions and illustrates very well how to install them.
:drinking:
-
....
Do those little blue stickers look easy to remove?
-
they're just a very thin vinyl so will come off easy, just not got around to it :happy2:
-
Do likie these! :happy2:

I could post many more, but.
The 1970s wind deflectors were always clear plastic though, and usually turned yellow after a while.
-
look top notch them VC, u motors cryin out for a tap with the lowering stick
-
not my taste VC , however another informative and thorough writeup :happy2:
-
Top notch review...good man... :happy2:
-
wouldn't mind these on the 5dr
tend to have the windows opened more often than not, so wind noise and water droplets come through
but expensive plastic

Blinds in the Back sort that out Celica, apart from the front where there is no blind to stop wind and rain intrusion. :happy2:
-
very true
do you have these on a 5dr but front windows only?
if so any pics?
-
No, not as yet , but will be added with my new list of bits for Phylis in the coming months :happy2:
-
....
I'm about to order some for my 5-door and was thinking whether to just have the fronts, but when I have my sunroof open I usually drop the rear windows an inch to release the cabin pressure waves. So, in other words, I'l doubtless go for a full set.
However, I can easily fit the fronts first and then take pics before adding the rears.
-
They're sweet, I'm definately ordering a set of these! Nothing worse than getting wet with the windows down a touch.
Top review and great pics, many thanks! One question though, does it ever make your anti-pinch mechanism come on and force the windows down?
-

no mate, they fit uber well :happy2:
-
what's the wind noise like with the window a little down, half down, all the way down, when travelling at cruising 60/70mph?
-

x2
I'm just realising that I wouldn't be seeking to reduce drafts but quite the opposite - I don't use aircon and just wind down the windows an inch to increase ventilation but the hassle is the wind noise at higher speeds.
-
great review and thanks :happy2: had been pondering on whether to buy these and now i will
-
wheres the cheapest place to buy???????

I know the subject says wind deflector so they should do what they're designed for but just want to know how effective they actually are with the window right down? I'm getting fed up with the wind whapping into my ear and making me a little bit deafer(?) everytime I do so. I've tried all sorts of different seat positions but nothing works so hope that the deflectors will. Thanks.
-
My blinds from Vanstyle alone have stopped the "copter" noise in the rear without the need of reflectors.
-
Thanks phil although the problem I have is the actual air stream over and around my car with the window down seems to direct right into my right ear. I don't have the whole gansta thing going on with my driving position but I'm kinda tall so have the seat way back. My heads just by the B pillar so catches the wind everytime the windows right down, so wanted to know how effective these things are? Cheers though.
-
:congrats:Great guide. Thank you
-
Loved this review so much - my set have just arrived and been fitted. IMHO looks sweet!

looks good may have to invest in some of these.
Joe.
-
Makes the car stand out alot very nice
-
not something i would normally go for but having experienced rain droplets falling into the car with the window open a little, i might just consider it.

Mine arrived today from the GB and were fitted in about 10 mins (5dr Candy Ed30), look great apart from those little blue transfers, just need to find the easiest way of removing them!?, any ideas on how to remove them?

....Yes, I'm about to remove the blue transfers but before I fit the ClimAirs to the car.
Apparently best to use:
1x soapy water (I'm gonna use washing-up liquid)
1x sponge
1x credit card/cardboard (or similar non-sharp edge) - I could use one of my long finger nails
1x elbow grease (gentle but firm)
-
Cheers for the Tip!, well its lashing down currently so might have a go on sunday!
-
Don't forget everyone's fav....WD40. Worked a treat on mine.
-
^^^^
Thanks, Moz :drinking: - The WD-40 did its magic and no trace of any glued ClimAir labels remain.
Easy to fit and now curing for the 12 hours before I road test tomorrow and post some pics.

^ They do not obscure rear mirror views in any way whatsoever - Photo is taken from the driving seat.
Overall, a very high quality of manufacture, easy to fit, extremely effective in delivering cool ventilation. So good that you hardly realise your sunroof is open even at very high speed. I've been testing them with all 4 windows down but not below the bottom edge of the ClimAirs.
-
Looks good, must invest if it Stops the rain coming in...
-
Looks good, must invest if it Stops the rain coming in...
....Stops the rain as long as you don't drop your window below the bottom edge of the ClimAir.
Relieves cabin pressure noise at (very) high speeds even when having the sunroof open or its rear tilted on its fully open setting.
-
Thanks mate. Think I'm gonna order a set of these

In response to a PM, here is an overall view to show the ClimAir's fitted on my red 5-door:

Think it's time you got a new camera RR, something wrong with the colour of the car. That or have you've had a Dale Winton wrap to match your tan
