Title: Prang and insurance claim
Post by: Lewo on October 17, 2019, 12:06:57 pm
So, had a prang today and ended up with damage to nsr door and maybe slight damage to quarter panel and some scuffs to nsr wheel.
Will be phoning the other driver this evening with insurance details.
Just wondered what's the score after that?
Reckon it will be 50:50 regarding the claim, might be lucky and get no fault....

Guess I have to wait and see what an assessor says regarding repairs?

Any ideas/advice?

Cheers

bit hard to tell who is at fault with an explanation of what / how it happened.

Yes not well written I guess lol.
It's more that I can't remember how to go about the insurance claim, can I claim directly from the other drivers insurance, do I need to notify my insurance etc?

you should contact your insurance regardless as you've had an indecent, you'll need to inform them of what happened and why ect and give them the details of the other insurance, do not speak to the other directly, you pay insurance so let them handle it all. thats my experience of it.

It's dealt with through your own insurer.  Never speak to the other party, and never admit liability, let the insurance companies battle it out.....and yes, it will likely go 50/50.  It always does unless there's dash cam or rock solid eye witness evidence.

It may do what they call knock for knock so both parties pay their own damage be careful of you NCB it may be cheaper to pay your own damage without claiming unless you have evidence the other party was to blame
