One, if not the best show of the year for modifiers of motors and fans of Autosport IMGDMFHO!
Public days are 16th and 17th Jan.
Last year was excellent and my understanding is that this year there will be a shed load of F1 ,BTCC, and WRC drivers there amongst others.
The good bit for me is the amount of trade stands, which just boggles the mind and the wallet

Id say convoy down? But Ill be going from Kent
-
I'm sure there will be others going too. I saw at least 3 other forum members there last year.
-
I'll be going but no convoy for me as it's about 10 miles from my place.............. :happy2:
Missed it last year so looking forward to this! :popcornsoda: :pomppomp:
-
I think there will be plenty of goodies this year too
-
I will be there :happy2:
-
It is like a grown up version of the ultimate candy shop for me :ashamed:
....But since when did you grow up?
It does sound good and I've never been. I'm trying to keep back some money for other trips though - It would be a big candy store for me too.

:signLOL: I didn't want to put ADULT as that has a different set of connotations altogether :jumping:
You NEED to go to this Robin, remember it is also on in conjunction with Pistonheads, so there is plenty of eye candy there as well (in more ways than one....but don't tell the wife :scared:) :signLOL:
-
^^^^
You're right, I do NEED to go to this!
You going on the Saturday or the Sunday, John?

Am going on Saturday - got ticket today. Live Arena at 0930, thought I would do it first :happy2:
-
crikey dom what time will u be setting off then?
last time i went there i almost missed my show slot cos it took 2 hours to get off the bloody motorway! was an absolute nightmare.
think i'll book an afternoon slot.
-
Thought I would drive up nice and early - don't mind getting up early at the weekend for things like this
-
I'm hoping they'll do the tickets at twofers again this year.
-
actually Dom I'm liking your idea of heading up early to beat the rush! Hmmm.....
-
Its only an hour and a half from here.
-
Yes, was kind of my thinking behind the decision really. Time will tell!
-
saturday morning 9:30am for me too :happy2:
-
right i'm booked in for 9.30am on the saturday!
Will try and bump into you guys there!
Gonna stay off the M42 this time..and be cheeky and go in the back way via A446!
-
We're up on the Sat too :)
Got 11am show.
-
Some Codes -
AS04241 works for standard tickets on telephone only - 2 4 1
GM10MSA will get £5 off the basic £29.00 tickets
-
Booked for Saturday.
-
I used the GM10MSA code when I ordered mine :congrats:
-
Any suggestions which ticket to go for? Basic sounds alright as I can't see myself paying £100 for the VIP experience...
-
....
What's the score if turning up on the day? £29 on the gate? Parking free? Potential problems?
-
robin the nec charge for parking, it used to be £8 :fighting:
-
Hmmm, I'm tempted.
-
I am booked for the saturday paddock pass with 11am action arena.
Should be good!
Yea NEC normally charge £8 for parking
-
I have always wanted to go to this. Booked some time off hoping they would have a day in the week for public :sad1:
Whats the best/least crowded day to go? The paddock pass or normal ticket suffice?
-
I went up on a Trade day last year (AMD guest) going on Thursday this year, the Trade days also have access to another hall for Engineering & Manufacturing (if that floats your boat) also a lot less people, but just as many damp patches.
-
Booked some time off hoping they would have a day in the week for public
Book a Trade day on line (Thursday or Friday) use any Company name, nobody checked last year. :happy2:
-
My brother is currently helping build a car for Display at the Autosport show.
It is a VX nova Stock rod. #29 David Philp Jnr.
It is looking awesome....... :congrats:
-
Dont want to sound gay, but are we gonna all meet up somewhere at a certain time? :ashamed:
Fair do's if you are all going with your other halfs, but I for one, would be on mi tod, if I decided to go :sad1:
-
....
I'll be on my tod too (if the weather doesn't stop me going).
-
I'll be the lone ranger on the day as well... more than welcome to buddy up as bum chums!!! :happy2:
-
:booty:
-
i'm going on me own too....if all this ice and snow clears by next weekend!

Not sure I fancy the drive down with the weather as it is...if it clears I'll probablt make the effort though.
-
Whats the chance of getting a ticket on the day? Do you reckon they will be sold out? I'm sure the weather will be ok, but I'm still on the fence as to pre-booking.
-
^^^^
I'm told you can usually get tickets ok on the door - That's what I would do as I don't trust the weather forecast - It doesn't look good and anyway could take some time to clear.
It only takes some sudden heavy snow and we're back to square one.
-
yes u can pay on the door from the ticket office and dont forget parking is about £8
-
Dont forget to come any say HI to me though.... I will be there again working so it would nice to chat to anyone who doesnt bore me to death about thier old kit car!!1 :signLOL:

The stand name will be Performance Wheels, i think were near the exit to the live action arena (stand 8002).
Will you be selling the Tyresure monitor at "a good price" again Ben?
Im sure if anyone wanted to purchase a Tyresure system i would be able to sort a good price out :happy2: I will be there from Thursday till Sunday to just ask for me!!
-
^^^^
I can't recommend the TyreSure highly enough! It has really surprised me just how useful it is - Extremely reassuring to know exactly how your tyres are in all conditions and updating every 5 seconds.
-
ive just tried to book three tickets and they dont accept visa electron on the web or over the phone! boo!
-
....
I was going to combine a trip to the show on Saturday and The Pod on Sunday but now the RWYB is postponed and the weather is getting bad again, I don't think I'll be venturing out anywhere. :sad1:
Who said they liked the snow? :rolleye:
-
had an email from them to say the roads around the NEC are clear and all things are GO so i'm still going for a day out (well i've paid so might as well)

-
Ok, so how many will be going on Saturday and time - and where should I be looking for the mk5golfgti clan?
-
Well if the weather is ok, I will be there about 10.30am :happy2:
-
How do I identify you apart from using my xray glasses to pin point the beating VW heart...
-

I do, but I was only commenting on the fact the roads through the NEC were clear......
-
I went from 30 miles north of manchester to near the NEC last night and all is well, took two hours to get down, and just over an hour to get back.
Roads were perfect robin
-
^^^^
Sure, I understood that, Nath. I was commenting/suggesting that the local roads being clear wasn't a reliable indicator of ease of travel for anyone coming from further afield.
:happy2:
I really want to go to this, but not if the roads from down south aren't absolutely clear. My car is totally impractical in the snow. M5 partly closed atm for example.
-
I spokr to Haymarket this morning as I still don't have my tickets for Saturday. :sad1:
The nice Irish lady suggested that I call back Friday and she would set them for collection if they still haven't arrived.
Hope this proves helpful to some. :happy2:
-
I will be there saturday

I took the option of printing off an "e-ticket" as I didn't think that the postal service would be on full song in this weather. Saves waiting for a ticket that may never arrive and waiting in a ticket collection queue on arrival at the NEC
-
can then not email you some mate? ive got mine sorted now and they delivered them over email, so no waiting in the morning or finding ticket offices etc
-
Dunno. I opted to have them by post as I thought with 2 weeks to go I would be fine. Little did I know. :sad1:
-
....
@ Hurdy: TV News says that Snake Pass is very treacherous today. I didn't see your car flash by on the telly coverage though.

I definitely avoid it when it is bad now as I've nearly been stuck on more than one occasion in the past :ashamed:

m40 from oxford to brum is back to 3 lanes, clear around nec this afternoon on way back south :happy2:

....That's great info, Andy :drinking: - I might ask you again on Friday afternoon.
About how much time does a normal drive from Oxford to NEC take?
-
I reckon 45 minutes on a good run...

c u guys tomorrow :signLOL: change of plan as was going today
See you then! :happy2:
Tht you'd had a change of plan as Jamie just mentioned it on FB!
-
well i went, and came back! Didn't take any pics as didn't take the camera on purpose.
But OMG you should see one of the Legs11 (strip club) girls on the stand near AP Racing. mahoosive air bags!
Shocked at how many people were taking pics of the girls rather than the cars :signLOL: (as if)
So the VWR brakes are made by Caparo AP (people behind the Caparo T1)
But are they a totally different company to AP Racing then?

So what you're saying is that you didn't trust yourself with a camera when around all those show babes. [Memo to self: Don't forget to take the camera on Sunday]
AFAIK, Caparo AP and AP Racing are not related, but.. I think I'll ask one of the long legged girlies guys on the AP Racing stand. "C'mon Nathan! We've seen everything on this stand, it's time to move on".
-
ive seen the show before RR...and just couldn't be arsed waiting for a gap amongst the masses of people to take a pic of a car that i've seen somewhere before...or the girls
still it didn't stop plenty of pervs doing just that! :signLOL:
-
^^^^
Actually, in spite of being an old perv, I'm the same - I've seen it all before.
Was the show very crowded then? (I've never been to this show).
-
i went first thing this morning..and to be honest it didn't feel or seem as busy as previous years.
the live action arena was not full at 9.30am (not surprised) so despite being allocated right behind a big phat f'ing pillar, i got up and moved to the bit in the middle that was empty with better view of the action!
VBH trying to powerslide a 911....dear oh dear. utter utter failure.
But i've seen it all before so nothing new in there to surprise me really. 40-50 mins of various forms of motorsports running around. Was kinda funny seeing the flame flowing FPA cars "sliding" their way round the course on opposite lock. don't think the cars were designed to do that!
and the show itself...chatted to Kenny on AmD stand about their new BTCC Golf. Saw a mate from CGTI. Other than that...same old show with maybe less trade stands than normal. Had a good nose at the VWR brake kit tho...massive!
-
well i went, and came back!
But are they a totally different company to AP Racing then?
see here for info on the brakes
http://www.volkswagenracing.co.uk/Golf%205%20Pages/Golf%20Brakes%20Kit.html
caparo had my car for a few days during the design of these brakes and are a very nice bunch of guys
and this is the company

Well , we "met" Dom and Hedge on the M40 :happy2:
Bought my new Helmet for Karting and some Gloves, that was about it really.
Didn't seem as big as last year, was it as many halls?
-
cheers Mat but already checked out the Caparo website to try and find out more about their "braking prodcuts" division.
Still confused between them (AP Braking / AP Lockheed) and AP Racing.
Do you know if their kit will take other makes of pads...ie is it a common size that Ferodo / Pagid / Mintex / PF will have a pad that fits that caliper? Or is it Caparo pads only that will fit?
-
they take other pads mate and vwr will be able to sort out any type of pad u need and they defo take mintex and ferodo pads
-
Note to self, leave credit card at home and take camera :signLOL:
-

First time I have been and it was alright although I have nothing to compare it with.
I don't remember there being many girls as I was only there for the cars.

M6 was shocking this morning. but i managed to park in car park that is closest to the halls so that was good
my lunch was a £4.80 New Yorker inside the oval racing hall.
-
Well,
I enjoyed it very much and even managed to restrain my debit card....ish
Anyone up for a performance logging day :innocent:
Good to meet up with DomT, Hedge and Wigit and "did lunch" - those hotdogs filled a "little" hole
Brought Dubkid to the show with me as he only lives about 10mins away from me - promised to give him a sedate drive over the Snake pass when the weather is better
Loads of lovely laydeeees and I think there maybe a competition pending for best "babe" photo of the show in the offing
Saw some lovely carbon seats too - 2.75kg :surprised:
-

As in my txt, Phil, I'll try and pick you up as close to 7:00am as I can but I am 1.5hrs away from you and there are known flood and fog hazards on my route so it depends on conditions.

I bought a pair of these Piloti driving shoes at the show today. I already have some lower cut Piloti's and have been particularly pleased with them.
Jay, did you get any today?

We met the designer from California and who started it all about 10 years ago - They're only just starting distributing here.
Phil (Mcavity) is now quite keen on getting a pair.

I came home with a Racelogic Performance Box
www.performancebox.co.uk
Just registered it this morning. So as soon as I can I'll be giving it a whirl :jumping:
-
Hedge and I discussed your performance box on the way home - we were half expecting you to get it out of the box in the car park and try it out on the way home from the show
