Legend!
What part number clocks would be needed?
-
I will have a look and post up some part numbers
I think on early cars they would also require a newer ABS Pump
-
Don't, Ed. I already want the white clocks in the Tig as it is..!
Great work as usual.

Nice job sir :happy2: what is required as regards the wiring adaptor?
-
Want these in my Jetta TDI :jumping:

Nice job sir :happy2: what is required as regards the wiring adaptor?
Pin outs are different between the 2x clusters
and the plug is in a different place
So an adaptor has the pin outs OLD > NEW
You could solder some wires to the existing but using the adaptor made it easier
-
:notworthy: great to see you keeping up the mods for us MK5 people! :happy2:

great mod Eddie :happy2:
would this eliminate the error code with the newer mk6 climate panels the missing message one ?

I think it would, I've seen a scan of a 2004 golf which had a newer cluster fitted with a late BT mk6 climate panel and it didn't have the missing message fault.

White ones bought for now

Eddie I did PM you but not sure if you got it
I want a (blue needle) R-Line TDI cluster on my Scirocco... It's the Mk6 one so already has a similar dash to the one in your retrofit.
Can you do it?

Do you still have a tdi?

Is it hard to change? I know the ABS unit will need to be changed and properly some coding is involved but anything else?

Not that hard, coding will be the same. Bleed the brakes and do basic settings with vcds.
-
Oh thats great then! :happy2: :happy2:
Have you got a part number for the Clocks? I can't find any anywhere :indifferent:
-
Ed coded my new Tiguan cluster and chips remotely. Gives the dash a much fresher look compared to the old red block, which I am increasingly growing bored of :happy2:
Thanks once again Ed

^ Nice.. I know what you mean about the All Red, it's a bit Dot Matrix in era - not something I'll be swapping this side of a different car though tbh.
-
Sadly I am still stuck with the red MFA in my Golf. Our last four cars have had the same ugly screen, might keep this one now, well until I find colour clocks!

Red one can be easily done, for the coloured one I think it depends on which ABS module you have.
Eddie can verify it for you though :)
-
thanks for the reply ,considering my mk5 is '04 , i think i need a newer one. cheers raz
-
2004 - 2006 probably need to upgrade to a newer ABS pump (this could have happend due to VW wanting to replace ABS pumps due to the G201 fault before they started doing goodwill and releasing a repair kit)
Older cars would also require a newer Gateway
-
I understand ,i found a '08 cluster for my mk5 ,can it be fited on my car? Cheers

Hey guys, i'm having a difficult time finding a cluster for my car , i have a '05 petrol mk5. I found some clusters of a 2008-2009 mk5 ,beautifull ,and very cheap. My problem is ,i read about this retrofit and learned it's very hard to adapt a immo4c cluster on my car. Can anyone help me with a thread ,or someone who can help me? What kind of gear ,gadgets, and so on i need for this to happen. Thanks in advance.

You need someone with the tools that Eddie-NL has + his expertise.

if it was possible than i would
the problem is you can gain remote access and do the job but the tool to read your immo is not where your car is.

Hey guys ,managed to get some pritty awesome GTI clocks ,of a '05 ,perfect for my car. I have a single problem with them. The clocks where on a uk spec gti ,so the dials are in miles. I'm from estern europe so i would like to convert them in km. I know i can convert them using vagcom but i would like to change the whole dial into a km. Anybody done this ,do you know any company that produces just the dials ? cheers and thanks in advance

Just get the foils for it.

I have on my mk5 Jetta the the following ABS pump. (only ASR, without ESP).
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1K0-907-379-MK70.lbl
Part No: 1K0 907 379 P
Component: ASR FRONT MK70 0105
Coding: 0017025
Shop #: WSC 00066 000 00000
Is it possible for me to upgrade to the white / color clock without changing the ABS pump?
Thanks.
-
Hi @Eddie-NL (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2345) , sorry for re bumping this thread.
I have found this version of the color clocks (5n0920882c) which is 2012+. Will it work with any of the 2009+ ASR only ABS pump that you posted earlier in this thread? Right now I have "1K0 907 379 P" installed on my car, which I know it won't work
Works ok:
1K0 907 379 Q
1K0 907 379 AA
1K0 907 379 AC
1K0 907 379 AF (non ESP Caddy)
The reason I am asking you this, it's because I may have an opportunity to upgrade only the ABS pump real cheaper than doing the ESP retrofit to my car :happy2:

Hello,
Can you help me with some info regarding an instrument cluster that I found for sale on ebay:
The part no. is 5M0-920-971-A. Is this instrument cluster highline? Does is shows the car with the opened doors and the audio, navi and phone menu?
Thank you.
-
that is a highline
what displays will depend on what you have fiited to your car

Will have to bump it up. Need some help.
Hello Ed . Bought staff off u on eBay and then I found u on gti forum, that u retrofitting white/colour clocks to mk5 platform. The question I have for u now is what would I need to do it on mine golf 2004 gt tdi 2.0 ?
Know the abs pump, clocks and adapter, what I've already bought. Clocks are 5M0920970BX and the abs pump/module is 1K0614117S - PUMP 1K0907379AK - MODULE. Have the gateway changed already for 7no AM. Will the abs pump straight fit or is the plug different pinout and the pipes have different ends? That's what I was told or can I just change the module on the old pump. Car has ESP button in it. Is it doable at all ?
Cheers Seb

If changing to a much later ABS pump, in 2004 golf, you may need to change from gen1 to later (gen3) steering rack also......

Which MK70 ABS controller would be best to work with a white cluster? I seen part numbers for the MK60 modules but not a MK70.
My car had a MK70 ABS unit consiting of a 1K0 907 379 P ABS controller with 1K0 614 117 H ABS module.
Coding was 0017025
(No TPMS and standard suspension)
I tried replacing with a unit from a Caddy but the brake lines was different so I ended up putting the Caddy controller (1K0 907 379 AF) onto my ABS module but couldnt get the coding correct.
On my cluster, both ABS and ASR lights are on
Current Coding is 16641 (it didnt want to accept 0017025 even if the values from 404 Not Found) adds up to that)
and error code is
01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded
003 - Mechanical Failure
Can anyone help me out?

Change the wire from pin 25 to pin 15
Great thanks Eddie.....so just to make sure, the AF controller from the caddy is ok and will work when I just move the pin you mentioned? (Havent looked yet but its not 2 wires to swap, just 1 to move right?)
Then the coding in VCDS will work?

Eddie, I just managed to have a look at the wiring on my car and there doesnt seem to be a wire in 25.
Not sure if its just a bit hidden but I first wanted to look before I strip the battery box out to get more access.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180202/200cc4491e58bb503c895d375e598da7.jpg)

the loop is in the wrong place, that is why you have the mechanical failure
you should be bale to tweak the coding

good to see you on here Ed

Nope Nujo, still driving around with the ABS lights on my new cluster. Just to check, do you also have the P controller and the original dont work with the white cluster?
My back up plan was to put my old controller back and hope for the best.

Thanks for the reply Eddie.
When you say wiring on the other side, are you saying I must look on yhe controller side as in open the controller and check which pins are in use on the electronics board?
Im not sure what the loop is you are refering too......Im not too knowledgeable when it co es to the electronic parts of the mods I do to my car.
Again thanks for the help and info

So Eddie-NL you are saying what we need to put jumper between pin 15 and 25 inside ABS module control unit? Pins 15 and 25 on the ABS plug are empty and non off other wires from the plug are going to the pins with those numbers.

Take the plastic backing off the plug so you can see the wires
there is a wire from one pin to another
that has to be moved

Thanks mate. We had a look at the wiring diagrams and it seems to be pin 19 that needs to go to 17.
I will give it a go this weekend.

For everyone who has the MK70 ABS module in their Golf Mk5s (usually with controller ending in P), the AF version of the controller works perfectly for an upgrade to a white cluster.
All thats needed is to move th loop wire's pin 19 to pin 17.
Thanks to Eddie-NL that tipped us off on this fact. Following the wiring diagrams on ErWin showed which wire to move.
The black cap clips off by using a thin flat screwdriver to get under the 2 clip positions on each side. Just cut off the cable tie that goes around the wiring and reolace afterwards.
The pink sliding clip on the bottom picture allows you to pull the wire from the connector and I used a sewing needle to pull the white cap from the empty pin 17.
After this I cleared the error code and just programmed it again with the code I previously coded after replacing the controller.

Hi everyone,

008 - Implausible Signal
Could anyone help me to find solution? Thank you in advance

Hi Eddie-NL is there a price for me to come to you to do all the changes over clocks coding and so on.....thanks
-
How much simpler does this swap become if your car is running on an IMMO defeat?

What is this code tweaking of which you speak? Done the swap and have the abs/esp error. ABS is good and coding hasn't been changed.

Hi,
I've been following this thread for a while, great info and work! I plan to do a similar upgrade on my Mk5 Rabbit (ASR70/Lowline to ESP60EC1/colour :) )
I've posted a request on ross-tech, but can anyone help me with my converstion from MK70 ASR to MK60EC1?
I've got the unit, and a couple of spare mk6 abs connectors., but the connections for Mk6's in Canada seems to be slightly different than the USA (RoW?)
I opened a connector I got from an scrapped MK6 (VIN 3VWDX7AJ9CM342753):
Comparing to this:
The "FR" sensor wires are a different color, I don't have a "tire pressure sensor" on 35 or an "ESP switch" wire on 39.
I know that TPMS was conpulsory in the USA from 2007+... not so much here.
I'm also not sure why there wouldn't be a wire for the "ESC switch" though since it's in the car - direct fit/use with my current "asr" button?
Is Eddie still in here for coding my MK60EC1 unit to my car? (I have my autoscan available :) )
Cheers
