Title: TR Hamza ' high mileage ' GTI gets the R tech treatment.
Post by: GVK on July 09, 2019, 11:02:52 pm
Great advert for R tech too

He's done a K04 swap on the BWA (190k miles or so?) mods from memory watching the series of vids.
Full Milltek with decat
Forge twintake
RS4 reg
MK6 R I/C
S3 injectors
VIS motorsport HPFP upgrade

On one of the previous vids, showing the K04 swap , could see the AC condenser was rough as fook, blocking flow to the mk6R cooler... was mentioned in his comments on YT.

Brilliant series of videos and definitely such a great ad for R-Tech! I already know of a few people setting up to get mapped from there now after seeing this.

He was the reason I bought a GTI as my daily driver as been following him right from when he first purchased it.

Very informative video and I intend to take my car to them this winter for an intake clean / custom remap.

Mine has covered 131k, and although only 1 previous owner from new and in immaculate condition I'm looking at the intake/valve clean and injector service. I had a STG2 Revo map done with a scorpion decat pipe, Revo intake and a Maxton R32 style twin-pipe back box. Car runs great, but be good to have the walnut clean etc and also have it dyno'd. Never Know i might even get them to re map as aell :-) Revo is OK, but i guess you cant beat a custom map thats created on a Dyno, and their set up looks puka

That injector cleaning machine looks clever.

I hope to book mine in before the end of the year.

I've been following TR Hamza too ever since someone mentioned him on here (around his decat era)
Its been a good ride and i bet he sure is happy to walk way with 350bhp on a 190k BWA :)

As for R-tech, i have always read good about them.. after seeing a nice close up and exploring video of them and there "man cave" from the Hamza.. i gotta say there set up looks really good.. they know what they're talking about and I'm very impressed with the injector machine too. I would happily take my car there. :happy2:

well done TR Hamza

Yep agreed - I know of R-Tech, and if I am being honest would have used them instead of the tuner I used for my Revo STG2. They are ok and reliable, but nowhere as near accomplished as R-Tech. They will be my choice going forward, and well worth the trip from West Sussex to Nuneton :congrats: :congrats:

....and I'm very impressed with the injector machine too.

No wonder TFSIs are not the quietest of motors with all that noise from the injectors!! :signLOL:

As someone who is looking to buy a mk5 GTI in the next few months, its impressed me how reliable and achievable that power is with basically a few bolt on bits! I remember him saying in one of the earlier videos that the previous owner changed the oil every 5k so thats gotta help.

Yep good to change oil regularly on any high powered Turbocharged car. I will be doing the same on mine albeit it was serviced by VW the week before I bought it and I’ve only covered 3.5k, but already have the oil and filter ready and will likely do it post my drive over to France to the in-laws which will be around 1200 round trip. Also give the car a good run as previous owner didn’t do many long runs.

How much can I pick up a K04 turbo for?

Its not just the Turbo mate - you need all the other parts as well as per the link below

K04 turbo

This mob look as the refurb using oem parts

The Revo map was created on a dyno  :happy2:

They just don't push for the same kind of numbers R-Tech do in the interests of reliability and lifespan.

It's just boost.  More of it = more power.  There is no black art to mapping.

But look at what happens to BMW 35i turbo engines when pushed.....the turbo thrust bearings can't handle it.  Same thing happens to K03/K04s but so long as the internet gets big numbers, everyone is happy..... at least with the GTI there is only 1 turbo to rebuild/replace
