Title: Mk5 gti intercooler pipes
Post by: T4yy18 on January 13, 2024, 05:33:37 pm
Hi wondering if anyone has had same problem as me. Bought a set of ecs tuning intercooler pipes for my mk5 gti. I had a problem where when you start it up it would die out and found when maf was disconnected it would stay running tried a new maf but same problem. Been told by few people that there was a big vaccume leak. So i carried out a smoke test and found a leak. With the intercooler kit there is a intercooler adapter and it was leaking from there. I removed the intercooler pipes and the adapter had loads of play and you could move it around.
Is there any way i could fix that or does anyone have any idea of where i could get an adaptor that will fit and not give me any boost leaks?

If its the big i/c pipes then they use an o ring on the quick release fitting, make sure this is in good condition and the connection is not worn.  :happy2:

The adaptor for intercooler never came with a o ring

I'm sure if its one of the click in type adaptors (both sides of  a standard i/c and 1 by the crank pulley) you have to transfer the green o ring from the old fitting to the new one.
Check it out just in case
