Title: Tyre Help please......
Post by: JamesP on July 11, 2019, 03:30:57 pm
Hi guys, have a 08 Edition30, just wondering what tyres people are using at present, how they rate them, and also if there is any voucher codes around.....
I do a few motorway miles so ideally lifespan of tyres would be a good thing.
Only need 2, bit of price is right I will just do all 4.
Thanks in advance guys....

i think we should start a caps sticky.. stating "Tyres to buy for Golf mk5 GTI - Michelin PS4" lol

Of course a few opinions on exactly which tyres, everyone has there own taste.. but PS4's seem to be the big wig and the tyre I'll be going for next change.

But yeah, PS4, F1 Assymetric 5 or ContiSport 6 are all within a few tenths of each other around a test circuit.  Can't go wrong with any of them.

PS4 are hard to beat at the moment for price and performance.  They grip pretty well down to 1 or 2 degrees as well, so no major concerns over winter.

I bought 4 brand new rainsports after my falken azensis went at the front and there were cheap ones on the back.  Don't like them, too soft. Going back to the falkens all round next time. Much better side wall. Better dry grip and response imo.

Yep, most people love Rainsports when it's wet and cold but come summer and they hate the squidginess in the corners.  Screechiest tyres I've ever owned and I was barely giving it any in the corners

There really is no need for those, or all season tyres any more.  The big brand summer tyres have all the major rubber disciplines nailed now  :happy2:

Really hate them. Way too soft in dry and feel like the car handles poorly now!
