Title: Mk6 R Brembo 18Z BBK Brake Disc Options
Post by: Wolf Burger on March 17, 2017, 07:48:40 pm
I am in the process of fitting a Brembo 18Z BBK upgrade to my MK6 R.
(Thanks for the help from th3 and Shoduchi)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fae111%2Ftungsten7%2FBrembo_Test_2_zpsepkryfhx.jpg&hash=3b7f7021ab0479de0acfe0a3c618dbfc0841b359)

At the moment I am going with EBC Ultimax slotted discs but these are really heavy and would like a lighter option if available.
This kit needs Mercedes 350mm size discs. (From GL450)

I have contacted Awesome GTI to buy their 2 piece discs that they sell as part of their ECS Stage 5 Kit
https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/ecs-stage-5-big-brake-kit-drilled-grooved-358x32mm-2/
Unfortunately they refuse to sell me these!!

Does anyone know of a lightweight disc option to run with these calipers??
If anyone has any options that would be great.

If they do you won't get much change out of 1200 for discs

Can you run the 340mm discs with these ??

Dont think Dave is there anymore so maybe was his brother??

I think if I ever go for the 2-piece discs, I'll have to contact someone local to custom make the bells and rotors I need with the MB GL450 350 mm discs specs.

I bet it won't be cheap, though...

ATE plain discs. Cost me 99€, the set.

Still have 32 mm of thickness after 3 track days. I'm on my second set of EBC Redstuff and waiting for Carbotech XP20 pads to use on the next event

My mistake, My disks are the 330mm ones, you need the 350mm.
My calipers are 4pot not 6pot like yours.

I'll try and find you some though
