I've been asked by ex-EVO writer Will Beaumont to source a good standard Edition 30 for a Modern Classics magazine feature in the near future.
It will probably take place on a weekday and somewhere in the Midlands, probably around the Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire area. As far as I know there is no payment for this but Bauer media who also produce CAR are very good with expenses and lunch etc and who knows, you may have fun. A few of us did a hot Golfs feature with CAR in August 2017 and had a great time even though it didn't stop raining, a drive in a show winning Rallye and doughnuts in Ben Barry's long term Toyota GT 86 on the way to get sarnies were just the highlights!
I know lots of you have nice modified examples but this story is about the standard car and the images need to represent this. If a 100% stock car isn't available then a car with performance mods but that looks 100% correct (inc. ride height will be considered).
Email me via andrew at volkswizard dot co dot uk if you can definitely make it and I'll put you in touch with Will.
Thanks :happy2:

Quick update - I've had two owners come forward so thanks for that guys!
Your details have been passed to Will who will be in touch.
Keep a look out for Modern Classics over the next couple of months for the feature, should be good👍

Could have used your red one with standard springs and standard map :happy2:

He sold it months ago.
Mine's lowered so no good..

Ah OK. I've been following his Youtube channel but didn't notice he'd sold it on.
Same with mine. I think the magazine feature would be of more value if it compared a standard one to a lightly modified one, imo. Even a standard one won't be fully representative due to age related wear and tear.

I have a very standard looking 5 door manual in grey. Its running a miltek and a ramair but looks completely standard

Yeah, agree, to me that's where the benefit of an Ed30 lies, in its ability to be tuned with significantly larger gains over a standard mk5 GTI. I wouldn't have put it down as a modern classic.

Could have offered my silver ed30, standard apart from remap with < 20k miles.. Oh well, see again in 10 years :happy2:
