Title: Replacing media unit?
Post by: SotonLad87 on January 14, 2020, 03:06:13 pm
Afternoon all

In my golf I have the vw radio navigation mfd2! For those that know it, it's abit basic and dated and the sat nav isn't great. Any recommendations with what to replace it with? And are there any specifics I should look out for when looking at new units?

I just replaced my MFD2 with an RCD330. If you Google it you will find plenty of info but they are basically a unit fitted to VW’s in China that come with CarPlay/Android Auto and Bluetooth built in.

Bought mine from AID Auto on AliExpress and turned up really quickly. Very impressed so far and theres a whole forum dedicated to support for the different options. Came in around £200 including delivery and for basically an OE unit it ticks the boxes for me.

I managed to get an RCD510, no issues whatsoever. I was going to try and get the RNS510 but I would need to get the extra canbus for the Bluetooth system, seemed a bit way out of budget. Especially for a media unit. Quite happy with the RCD510 at this current moment, literally was just a plug-in and play situation.
