Guys,
Would like to know what set up people with the NQSBBK are running!
Really interested to know which wheels people are running which require spacers and which don't, amount of clearance gone for, offsets ect.
Any pics would be desirable.

excellent stuff and good pictures too.
quite interested in the TD alloys so no spacers on them are swaying me even more.

apologies for slight off-topic...
rex, you wna sell these alloys?!
-
Sorry mate, I sold them in the autumn.
You might want to check the volkswagen web site to see if they sell these (in Germany they are 133 EURO on their e-shop).

I have the monza 2's with a 3mm spacer (this spacer is just a temp) clearance is still very tight (1-3mm) :happy2:

You got any pics mate as never seen them behind Monza II alloys.
Are you also running 3mm spacers on the rears?
-
Running my nqsbbk behind a STD ed30 pescara and a 5mm spacer
-
any pics at all?
-
ive got a couple on my phone of the clearance but only got a shot that you can just see the caliper
-
whats the minimum clearance that can be run
-
Dave B told me the smallest spacer you can run these on the monza 2 is 3mm. Im going to get some 10mm hubcentric ones after my driving holiday :driver:
-
Octavia Vrs 18" Zeniths (ET50) has about 6mm clearance. Ronal R41s on 7.5j (ET45) have about 2 mm
-
whats the minimum clearance that can be run
Good question. I think clearance is clearance but I wish my Ronals had a bit more than 2mm. I know some folks who have put R32/S3 front calipers and had to grind them back to get a couple of mm clearance.

The NQSBBK marches on, would love to merge this info with the main NQSBBK thread.
To be honest theres practically nothing from a 4 pot point of view that fits behind the 7.5" rim without a spacer. If somebody is running OEM wheels then my stock answer is a 10mm spacer is required. So its good to know we can get away with 3mm if required.
Regarding clearance, normal aerospace tolerances between fixed and rotating is 3mm, 5mm for two rotating masses.
Increase or decrease for Non OEM wheels or track days with kitty litter run off areas.
Ive had a lot of enquiries regarding the 996 Front kits that appear to be popping up on ein classifieds at the mo.
Hydraulically these are exactly the same as the NQSBBK with 36/40mm pistons, the disc is thicker at 28mm and you can increase the spacer requirement over the NQS by about 9mm. The other potential downside is weight - the whole kit is about 6kg heavier a side. it is a slightly bigger disc however for aesthetic purposes to balance the negatives things out.

Thanks for continuing to support us NQS BBK converts with useful info :happy2:
I am still running my NQS BBK quite happily on an Octavia VRS and have another full NQS BBK in my garage for the new VRS that is due to arrive mid-July. Can't be a bad vote of confidence when I have the brakes before the car!
Dave - are you talking about the need for spacers on 4-pots other than the NQS BBK when under 7.5J width wheels or talking about 17" wheels only? I thought that plenty of 18" wheels had good clearance over the NQS BBK. The spoke design is definately a big deal when it comes to clearances even on a 7.5J width 18" wheel. The Zenith alloys on my current Octavia will fit over them easily but the Neptune alloys on newer Octavias will not yet both are 18", 7.5J and both have an offset of ET50; my shiny new Ronal R41s are 18", 7.5J and ET45 yet have notably less clearance than the Zeniths (given that I am not 'going aerospace' with the new car, or at least, I hope not  , I hope that 2mm is enough with the Ronals!).
I wish there was some kind of metric that took in to account spoke design in addition to the usual wheel size, width and offset as I would have estimated more clearance :sad1:

Ps Kind of strange question on this thread but does anyone know who can do sheet metal cutting cheaply. I am looking for, say, a 2 or 3mm thickness doughnut shaped disc with a 312mm diameter (anyone see where this is going yet? ) with a 202mm diameter centre hole.
I was quoted £70 + vat as that was the minimum price to program and set up the cutting; which is a bit pricey for what I want it for.
In case anyone is thinking wtf is he on about, this is for a 'masking plate' that I will place over a 312mm disc which will leave the disc bell and about 10 or 12mm exposed on the inside edge of the disc. I then use Simoniz high-temp paint to spray the disc which will cover all exposed parts of the disc including the area of the disc surface which is unswept by the pads on the NQS BBK (therefore rusts up). The Simoniz paint is powdery therefore if a little gets on the swept area, it gets brushed off by the pad.
I know, I should get out more! ;)

After being not so happy with spacers  I want to get BBS CH028 which are the standard wheels in older Audi S4 18" 5x112 8j ET43. Will the NQSBBK fit without any spacers?
-
No issue with using spacers, providing they are good quality ones.
-
Please quote me some good ones as small as possible to clear the NQSBBK on my Edition 30 (Rockingham - Pescara - BBS CH like standard wheels). I tried H&R 8mm hubcentric but I think were the wrong part no (162555716) since they get quoted as TT mk1.
So.. please tell me what you run without issue (brand, part no).

I use H&R hub centric 8mm per side spacers front and rear without issues on a mk5 gti. Part number is 1655572

8mm H&R hubcentric... no probs. :happy2:
