Title: Lacquer peeling
Post by: Jb55 on February 13, 2020, 04:54:32 pm
How bad is it and how costly to fix ? This is on a gti I’m thinking about buying , it’s  on the rear bumper.

Really that bad? Been to look at a good few now and this is the best by far not cheap though , decent spec with sat nav, xenon , parking sensors and the service history is spot on with just under 70k on the clock, it’s a bit more than I wanted to pay for one, has two stone chips on bottom of door as well but they should touch up fine.

If the bumper is peeling then it's not factory paint, so you have to ask yourself what kind of damage it sustained and also if it was only the bumper that was repaired or other panels that have yet to start peeling. Peeling lacquer is simply a case of a crappy paint job.

That's a good spec, but you're probably better off looking elsewhere, especially if you say it's not cheap.

Good luck

As has been said check for accident damage elsewhere. It may have just had a bumper repainted due to a parking ding.

If its right, use it to get money off and either have it repainted or buy a second hand bumper

Fixable.... depends on how much the car is and how much you can bash him down on price.
