Hey, had my mk5 gti mapped to revo stage 1 at B9 T5 F5 car felt great but wanted to run the figures past Revo directly and they pretty much said that the settings could end up hurting my car as I only have the standard fuel pump on :surprised:. They said it was pretty rare to see figures like that for stage 1.
I told them i had a revo intake on and only use v-power so they suggested i go to B7 T5 F9, which I did with my SPS switch (great bit of kit btw) (Apparently Fuel should be leave on 9 unless u have a uprated fuel pump)
I changed the settings two days ago but I don't really feel much difference. The boost maybe does feels more progressive as I have taken it down to 7. (The car still feels great)
So my question is, does it take time for the ECU to adapt again to an SPS setting or should it be pretty much instant??
Also, if you have the SPS switch how good/healthy is it for the ECU to keep changing setting, say if you just wanted to mess around with different settings?? Surly I can't be good for it.
p.s - Out of the B, T, F setting which one is more to do with BHP??
Thanks :happy2:

What sps switch you using?

What sps switch you using?
The newer one i think, i works with the SPS+ software. Why do u ask?
-
Just wondering as the old one which is what I've got you can't adjust the settings
I've been to 2 revo dealers and they have both changed my settings around so I don't know what one to trust!
How do you do the logging yourself?

Get yourself the newer switch, i got mine on ebay for £75. Great bit of kit! U can then download the software from revo and mess around with some setting. Although most people will say to get the car logged first
I haven't had the car logged....i just told revo the setting which was b9 t5 f9 and they said it was rare and almost dangerous to ran at that setting for stage 1.
I set the car using my SPS for b7 t5 f9 which revo suggested and the car still feels really good, not noticed too much of a difference yet.

What you got the sps plus switch for £75?!

Well £77 lol. Ebay is your friend ;)
-
What a bargin! There like £300!!!
I'll keep my eye out for one :happy2:

I personally would not bother with logging, the sensor is not in the original housing so the readings will not as accurate, also a dyno is only good if you do it like in laboratory conditions as in everything is done exactly the same before and after, but it is good for pub ammo if your figures are high :)
I would lower the Fuel settings to see any difference but bear in mind when comparing it leave it an hour or so depending on how spirited your driving.Heatsoak is a bitch

I was thinking about lowering the setting from 9 to 8 for the fuel. My dad was saying the other day that if ur fuel is too lean it also can damage the engine. I ll maybe drop revo an email to see if that would be ok with the standard fuel pump.
Is it more beneficial for the fuel to be richer??
-
I would drop their support an email,I changed mine from their settings after tweaking it on a dyno.
-
I just got off the phone to revo
The lower the number the leaner it is! The higher the number the richer it is!
Boost 8, timing 4/5, fuel 9
-
My stage 2 revo was B7 F8 T4 or something like that.
-
My stage 2 ed30 is b9 t5 f8
-
F9 is lean, not rich. I suggest you speak to one of the technical team as opposed to the sales staff. F9 on my car yielded an actual AFR in the high 12's as verified on a RR using an independant wideband AFR.
It is only a target AFR though, EGT protection routeine will dump plenty of fuel and give you a very rich mixture if it gets too hot. Why not check it yourself, run it at F9, then log specified and actual Lambda, then try F2 and log specified and actual Lambda again.
Got to love Meth though, being able to run the Boost at 9 and Timing at 7 at Stage 2+

I spoke to one of the technical people for about 20 mins about everything haha

You must have misundestood the tech, as a higher number aims for a leaner mixture. For the standard hpfp the general opinion seems to be that You should not take the fuel setting below 8... lower(richer) than that, You need an upgraded hpfp, like Autotech..

how much maf g/s you have without meth (on higher settings) and how much g/s have with meth and timing 7?
I thinking about meth lately
-
Not logged with vs without, I now run the timing on T9 so wouldn't try that without the meth. MAF reading would probably be unchanged as the boost pressure wouldn't change. Peak g/s reading 235 when very cold outside, usually around the 225-230 mark
-
ok, thats g/s without meth? good for stage 2+
