Title: Ed 30 misfire
Post by: Steveo on May 01, 2021, 03:16:17 pm
Afternoon all,

Trying to identify a misfire (with VAG com) but looking for some comparable/ normative data. I am thinking fuel pressures, compression data and injector data. I already know that I have specific misfires in cylinder 3, so just need to chase it back.
It is running a map at 320bhp so unsure if and what changes this will make to data parameters when comparing?

I am sure that it will have been discussed before so would be grateful if anyone could point me towards the topic on here. Alternatively, if anyone has some data to hand, I'd really appreciate you sending it over.

Many thanks.

Could be a coil pack.....try swapping it with another to see if the misfire jumps to that cylinder.

Also I guess you have checked the sparkplugs.

I had misfires on cylinder 4 and it ended up being carbon build up on the intake valves.

Bad injector I'd say, especially if they're the original ones with some leggy mileage on them.  It's the only thing that causes a hard miss on these engines, other than mechanical failure (i.e. cracked piston or burnt out exhaust valve).
