Title: Name the intake...
Post by: animal on April 18, 2009, 12:53:16 am

Does anyone have any ideas what it is or who makes it or one similar? Or is it likely to be bespoke (it's VW's Nurburgring 24hr Scirocco).

its a carbonio / APR special jobbie done specifically for the Rocco GT24.

The road going version is HERE (http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/intake_carbonio_20tsi.html)

It's a lovely bit of kit that, BMC do those 'can' type designs - think they're called Carbon Dynamic Airbox, or something?

Certainly looks like one.

EDIT: Chungster is more on the ball, I guess the APR at the bottom of the photo should have been a hint for me!!

Its a VW motorsport intake, they use the same intake on the Seat Supercopa cars, its not APR.. VW used APR's fuel pump on the race car, thats why it says APR on the pic..

You can't fit anything like that on our cars unless you re locate the battery and fuse box..

Thread hijack!  :signLOL:

Does any one have any experience of using the BMC CDA or something similar? Does using the original engine cover pipework mean it doesn't work as well as, say, the evoms intake?

Cheers Jonny for clarifying - The photo was indeed for the APR fuel pump, not the intake, in its original context - although it perhaps would've been a good place to start though :ashamed: . I wish they made ABS versions of these cylindrical filter set-ups, as it would help to keep the cost down. And I'd probably relocate the battery to the boot and swap it for a motorsport one like your self. That particular intake just looks very tidy and presumably is pretty efficient with the cylindrical filter element maximising surface area.

Thanks everyone else, completley forgot about BMC - will look into these.

No worries, keep your eye out for a new intake from ITG, they are making something pretty radical and its going to be very very good!  :happy2:

....That's one of the two I wasn't supposed to say anything about. I guess they must have made some significant progress.

Goodee! :happy2:
