i own loads of cds i want to put them on a samsumg t7 but will the rns510 be compatible to play it
-
Can't help with compatible format -
but you may struggle to power the drive via USB from the head unit.- edit just read its an SSD...but how would you plug it in?
I would throw the music on an SD card, when ripping the music, just don't go mad with the file sizes.

I use a cheap bluetooth module from Amazon hard wired to the RCD 310, and just stream from my phone. My entire music library is only 128GB or something, a month's worth of music according to iTunes.
I can't imagine how many CDs would fill up a 1TB SSD. More than you can ever listen to, back to back, for over a year. A bit overkill for the car I think

The issue with streaming from a phone is the recent tightening up of use of phones in car - only way you legally can touch or manipulate is if the phone is in a bracket. But even then you have to be fully in control.
In my android head I use a 125 gig micro SD car, it's got to be well over a 150 albums with loads of room...but its a bit of a pita to scroll through on VLC player.

have another issue as the RNs510 doesn't regonise the sad..not sure if it is because it is running exfat

I seem to remember all sorts of revision number, firmware version, disc size and disc format etc issues with RNS510s. That and their painfully slow boot up times was why I sacked them off

I literally fire up a Soundcloud DJ set at the start of the journey, chuck the phone in the glovebox and don't touch it again until the end of the journey
I think using a phone in a cradle is a fine. The only issue with phones these days is dumb arses staring down at their laps texting and scrolling social media. Car and phone makers are still trying to figure out how to either block certain apps, or force airplane mode if it detects movement above certain speeds. Obviously a tricky problem to solve as you can't do that for train, bus and coach users. There surely has to be some kind of RFID tag specific to cars only, which the phone can detect?

never use the phone..whlst driving..
I finally got the t7 to work in the car as the h/u doesnt run on exfat it has to be on fat32 software..Microsoft only let's you format 32g so you have to get a program to format more
-
I'm even simpler - I just listen to 6 music, when that gets too random late at night I dip into the music on the SD card.

Yeah that's pants. Too many formats. FAT, FAT32, EXFAT, NTFS, APFS etc etc. I just can't be bothered with it. The RNS is OK for NAV and Radio but for streaming Audio, a phone is king. Even better if the HU has Carplay or the Android equivalent thing thing.
