I priced up a fuel pump and controller from TPS, £270 for fuel pump and £160 for controller. I wasn't too happy with those prices so spoke to our usual parts supplier who's been in the trade for a very long time and is really good. I asked him to get prices on the best available aftermarket parts. He said VDO didn't supply aftermarket pumps. Bosch was £105 Hella was £100, and for controllers Pierburg £95 or Intermotor £90. I was going to go with Bosch and Pierburg but I asked him what he would go for and he said Hella and Intermotor so I went with those.
The Intermotor controller is actually a VW part so that's good but the Hella fuel pump didn't feel as good as the original.
I now hear the fuel pump buzz when I open the driver's door which I'd never heard before, and normal driving at below 3000 rpm seems slightly smoother and more responsive, I'm wondering if that's just in my mind though, no difference at high rpm. I just need to go on a few long runs to see if the drop in power is fixed.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it will make much difference to the amount of gearbox oil you need as it all drains down. When I ordered my oil I got 6 litres and didn't use it all.

If you ever have to do this again you can access the lower T25 screw by pulling out the headlight washer. There’s a hole that allows direct access to it, add a long extension to your T25 and your able to get directly too it, can take the headlight out in a few mins, just don’t drop the screw :(

How did you do the connection to the parking light, I’m currently doing this but I can’t seem to get them both working together, either one or the other

Yeah was more luck than anything that i managed to save it built a shield round it after I refuted it so water can’t land on it anymore and it’s never gonna open again the amount of sealer I put back in to seal it back up but touch wood been fine since then and yeah I’ve had a look doesn’t seam to bad just a bit tight to get into but will do it in my work so I have the ramp anyway so will get that and the service done next weekend, random question mine is a dsg and I’m gonna service the box aswell my sump pan on the box is a bit corroded so I’m gonna change that at the same time does anyone have any idea if that will req more oil in refilling due to the sump being replaced rather than just drained? Thanks again for the help guys it’s much appreciated.
