Title: Aftermarket stereo wont power on
Post by: Sume on March 14, 2024, 11:24:21 am
Hi,

I own a Golf MK5 from 2004 (not GTI, its a 1.6 FSI) and i'm trying to install an aftermarket radio/stereo that just wont power on.

In my world i've tried everything but it just wont work, my stock radio was fried (powered on by only blinking for a split second and making strange sound inside of the radio) therefor i need this replacement.

I use a ISO adapter of course and a fuse tap which is connected to the top fuse. I use two fuses in the fuse tap, not sure if necessary.
When i power on the car on ignition, nothing happens, with or without fuse tap.

Please see photos for reference. Anyone that's got a clue on what I am doing wrong? I've checked all radio fuses when I tried to troubleshoot my old radio but I came to the conclusion that it was the radio itself.
Im now starting to think something else is wrong or i've been wiring poorly.

Also, worth mentioning.
I did extend the red wire myself to the fuse box, not sure if that also can be an issue?
