Title: Edition 38 2009
Post by: markymark on September 06, 2009, 08:27:19 pm
A fair few of us attended today and it was good to see you all! The quality of cars was top notch but this show, IMO is being spoilt by a growing number of chavs. At one point a Volvo was being used to tow lads around the show area, whilst they were sitting on there tent!!  Anyway enough of the down side, onto the cars!

Unfortunately my plans didn't go as well as I hoped, I was due to be on the V-Maxx stand but my rad started pissing coolant out last week so I had to use the fitting money for a rad and fitting.

I decided to join a friend on the auto jumble and I made £250 from parts I accumulated for cars I no longer own, my mate made £650 clearing his garage of interiors, switches and trim.  Not bad for a days work, and I'm tempted to do it again next year!

Congratulations to plush-automotive for winning best MK5, and I'm glad you got your lines back on in time to collect your trophy!  You deserve it mate, your car is awesome!

Good morning guys, was good meeting up with you and being able to put faces to the names.
The class of car at the show was great. Saturday was as busy as the normal sunday and sunday was that busy that they ran out of tickets!

Greenhouse, met up with steve last night on the road home and handed over the package.

Can i just say, the GTI performs real well when it comes to fuel consumption sitting at a steady pace. Used 3/4 of a tank covering 370 miles with the cruise set at 80mph.

Robin, had a look around to see the twintake and nothing was spotted. So dont think they launched it at the show from what i could see.

Anyway, will post up some pics when i get a chance this week.

Thanks again guys for coming along and hope we can get more there next year

Iain

Reading the pages on Edition38 it wasnt just us who thought the show was spoilt by the chav element. I do hope this isnt a sign of the way the whole Vag scene is going. The show put on by Edition38 was great but its always such a shame when people spoil it by pinching bits off cars, stealing from tent and generally dicking about. Purely for this fact I will seriously think twice about going next year.  :chicken:

Dan, headed up the road around 2pm as i was wanting to take it easy after my trip down playing with an RS6 or rather him playing with me  :signLOL:. His face was a picture when he hit his speed limiter and a wee black golf edged past.

The standard of cars at the show were great. Seeing John's mkv, has made me want a carbon bonnet. think its going to be a busy winter break changing things on the car

A quick Google turned up the van I remember... and it looks scarily similar, yet ever so slightly different... maybe it's in new hands now then :)

not seen that splitty crew-cab for a fair few years..... Lots of VERY nice subtle details in it (if it's the one I think it is?!)

that van is my mates van Martin taylor who had the van and his 53 split beetle done by the paintbox and my other very good mate Richard from impact repair centre in Brighouse who is vw crazy  :notworthy: he does awesome work  :notworthy:
well any way the bus and the bug paint was crap when paintbox did them and Richard re painted the beetle first and it was 100% better and then Richard bought the splittie off Martin as his dad was not doing anything with it, Richard stripped the van as the paint was crap again and found filler in the front panel lots of it  :fighting: paintbox could not be arsed to sort by the looks of it and now the van was redone and all the bad bits fixed to make the as good as it could ever be   and was only just finished on friday for the show. The engine is now 2332 cc and has fuel injection Built by Martin taylor and the whole van is stunning and just proves how good Impact are at there work and how much they Love VW. I did love the airbrushed licence plate
If you ever need the best paint job doing then defo give him richard a call on 01484 381111 and tell him Mat with the white ed30 sent u  :happy2:
