So I believe the new Polo is doing well?

Cannot find one scrap of TV coverage currently. Anyone anymore info on this?

You won't see it on S4C until April apparently...

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105145

One of my earliest Motorsport memories is seeing the Quattro's coming into the Afan Lido car park in Port Talbot for their overnight stop.

It would be a shame if this issue isn't resolved and we get less and less coverage. I'd even settle for the coverage Dave did for now. Something's better than nothing.

Oops, just seen that April was already mentioned, sorry for the repetition!

S4C coverage is good for some of us though. ;)

Terrible state of affairs! It wasn't that long ago that WRC was bigger than F1!!

Well, Loeb won the Monte Carlo Rally for the 7th time, but Ogier did very well in the Polo. Great debut and hopefully a sign of things to come!!!

According to David Evans (autosport / MNews) there were a few UK TV companies ready to air the WRC but they all wanted money to do so. It appears that was the stumbling block. They have 3 weeks to sort it out before Rally Sweden !

Its a shame really as the production by the new promoters is really very good. I've been watching them on youtube. SpeedTV in Australia have been showing them. Half hour bulletins every night.  Uploaders name WRCforeva. Take a look.

Regarding the Monte , Ogier did really well , won the first stage but  Latvala crashed on the last day. Big impact too.

If latvala can keep it on the road I think VW will have a good year.

Those Swedish Rally links were spot on? Cheers - But I WAS going to bed ages ago.

Jost Capito looked well chuffed at the end, did he take over from Kris Nissen as Motorsport Boss for VW?

BTW: Anyone found similar links for Monte Carlo Rally as well?

There were youtube clips for Monte from a user WRCForeva but it looks like Red Bull Media had them taken out. They are on the WRC site though now.

http://www.wrc.com/video/

Watch the youtube ones quickly. They may get taken down soon.

Cheers Chris,

That link is now my new fave website, especially given the lack of telly coverage. Rather rapid Loeb looked on the Monte, as ever.

Would have actually liked to see him do one more year against Ogier in another (and clearly competitive) manufacturers car, rather than their 2011.
As I think the 2x Sebastiens are head and shoulders above the rest talent wise.

And its well done to VW and Ogier again ! Win on Rally Mexico and basically won all but a few stages and Ogier got the power stage too. So maximum points !
He finished nearly 3 mins 30s in front of Hirvonen ! Bet Hirvonen now knows he will never be world champion. If Latvala can finish more rallies this year they may well win the championship in their first year !

P.S , ITV4 now have the deal to televise the WRC. First programme is tomorrow (Tuesday 12th March) at 1745.  If you're a fan make sure to watch. The higher the viewing figures the more chance they'll do more than just an hour highlights.

Excellent I'll be watching this, thanks for the heads up!

However, it won't matter how many of US watch it, they have no idea what we are watching using the TV Aerial.  What we need to do is get everyone who's part of the BARB panel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcasters%27_Audience_Research_Board) to watch it, then we're onto something!

Nice one Chris!  :happy2:

Did anyone else read about the 'closed gate' incident on stage that Ogier had to deal with!  :surprised:

Yeah , I think that's happened before on the SA rounds. Portugal too iirc.

Having said that , I'm sure it's also happened in this country too. Normally McRae fans trying to sabotage burns or sainz ! Not me though !

All up on wrc site. Another good result for VW. I can see Ogier and VW walking it already. Goes to show Hirvonen isn't a No.1 driver. I'm surprised by Sordo though. Thought he'd be a lot better this year than he's been.

personally i dont think hirvonen will adapt to team loeb sorry i meant citroen..even though this is his 2nd season..seems that there is a divide between the french drivers whove drove there and other nationalities...just look at loeb and ogier, numerous wins....hirvonen and sordo havent had a proper win yet actually beating loeb hands down..just look at years gone by..think the only other driver to do well was carlos sainz...mcrae,pons,duval etc all struggled..

il put a tenner on hirvonen been back in a ford next year cos malcolm should get rid of novicrash oops sorry novikov...i do think ostberg is very good though..

Totally agree on all counts. I think the only one to really take it to loeb was gronholm. Wrc needs some quick drivers badly. But the pay to drive culture of the last few years has set that right back.

Chris.

So over halway into the season and vw walking it really now,no one can live with them, such a shame on rally germany what happened to both ogier and latvala, but thats rallying for ya.
So glad to see an up and coming star in elfyn evans(son of legend gwyndaf),really proving himself, kubica seems to be getting all the glory but evans was only about 10 seconds behind him in germany.hopefully he will be ready for wrc in 2015,needs to be in wrc2 for another season yet.
Come on malcolm what the f**k are you doing with that useless prat novikov,1.5 kilometers into first stage and crashes AGAIN..neuville and hirvonen or sordo next year in the ford camp maybe.

Im so looking forward to november for the trip to wales to see these cars in action as until uve been you just cant comprehend the speed and comitment of these guys..

I read somewhere aswell that vw actually had an evolution of the current polo R for after the summer break but because they are already wupping there opponents decided not to use it yet and stick with the old car and save money on the cost of the revisions.

so how fast would the polo be after the revisions then.a certain mr wilson must be scratching his head

So the 2014 season is well underway down in Monte already. Kubica is doing well, thought it wasnt looking good for him after rolling twice in Wales last year.
