Title: Revo engine mounts
Post by: flashp on February 15, 2014, 11:20:35 am
Had these installed yesterday, I originally chose THS but it seems there are issues with supply and they have been withdrawn.
Anyhow...these change your vehicle noticeably in a number of ways.

- An engine note is transmitted to the cabin, but not in an unpleasant way (not too much vibration either). It also subsides at cruising. I would describe it as purposeful.
- You can 'feel' the engine when indulging yourself. Should be good on track.
- Throttle take up feels sharper.
- Contribution to wheel hop reduction (if any) has yet to be determined. I currently run S3 lower arms, WALK and B12 kit. How well will these parts play together remains to be tested.
- Arrests a lot of engine movement.

Contributing factors to the sound recorded - Stage 2+ map, Revo intake, Milltek resonated turbo back exhaust.

Hopefully some may find this useful if considering this mod.

Thanks, a good read. Seems I'm echoing much of what has already been said with the addition of video. Must explore the wheel hopping issue today...

In the wet wheel hop is reduced by around 80%, just a momentary occurance now and no really heavy banging and this is with a foot flat launch which in fairness you might not expect to get away with. Even with it reduced this much track use will be much improved. If I were to persue complete eradication I think I'd go for things like tyre compounds, tyre pressures and bushings. Already have WALK so maybe the remaining OE bush on the lower arm. Geometry lastly before considering coil overs. Anyone have experience here?

I have WALK and am running stage 2+ also have Nankangs NS2-R's (track day road legal) to try and sort the problem but plenty of wheel hop/tramp so have purchased BFI mounts to go on.
Will post up results.

I'll be interested to hear where you end up going with this. I think now if I were to leave mine as it is now it would be easy to deliver much more power but with no hop consistently. You can't quite max throttle input but a little finesse is all that is required to keep the drama down rather than backing right off. Before I had no hope whatsoever of getting anywhere with any pace from a standing start. Who want's to spin up the wheels for a quick start in the wet anyway! I'll see what happens in the dry as soon I can, maybe I'll try the launch control out again. Don't usually bother with it but I tried once some time ago and it wasn't very successful in the dry.

Loss of traction and toe in is supposed to contribute heavily to wheel hop which is why I think (in a non expert kind of way) that bushing is a good place to start.

Might also have a look at these people http://www.wheelalignmentcentre.co.uk/index.htm (http://www.wheelalignmentcentre.co.uk/index.htm)

Good review this. I'm looking at fitting a set of mounts to my stage 2+ Leon Cupra and the one thing I really didn't want was bad vibration through the full cabin.

i ran these on my Ed35 for best of 18 months and preferred them in a day to day role than the vibratechnics i had on the rocco previously, really nicely made and good value

one of the best products they make imho that are over looked by many

I've noticed that the TSi engine gives loads more noise than the TFSi.

Got my eddy back today, there a quite noisy and vibrating when at idle and when pulling off but after you don't notice then, engine feels more planted when driving hard and cornering.  The mech that fitted them said they'll soften within a few weeks of driving  :happy2:

In all honestly mate ive done 114 miles since all the REVO work was done and already the vibrations are down at least 25-30% so hopefully by 500 miles they'll be silent but deadly  :signLOL:

In conversation JKM told me this also. Balance shaft differences were also talked about.

After some digging I've learnt that the OE bush on the lower arm (not the WALK bush) is already very strong and there have been numerous instance of other poly bushes splitting under hard use where the OE bush survives just fine. I was advised to leave it in place, mine were new with the arms anyway.

I have had these engine mounts fitted along with a solid pendulum mount after i fitted my BT, the THS being on there before didn't cope with the extra power and i had massive engine movement.
These keep things in place and is a must going above stage 2+ IMO, THS was fine upto that level of power.
Bit more noisy though so not for everyone.
These are not the same as the ones REVO got from the Stasis affair, they have been revised and are now 80% stiffer than stock, (softer than the BSH ones i think)

any ideal on the eurojet ones? i ended up recieving eurojet ones when ordered from revo recently..

im thinking of changing to BFI stage 3 mounts allthough very expensive and not road friendly, they will be great on track

VWR engine mounts failed very badly on my Mk5 GTI and now replaced with revo (July 2017).

Slightly softer but power transmission and handling unaffected.
