After having my injectors replaced I have seen a miraculous improvement in MPG, this combined with me driving like a 60 year old Nun has given me a new record MPG in this car :

This is for a 35 mile journey - mostly motorway.
Which got me thinking....what are other people's records (please submit pictoral evidence of your record :innocent:)
I know the computer may not be all that accurate, so I will calculate my 10 day average MPG on Saturday when I fill up. :happy2:
So....whats your best?
-
I picked up my Edition 30 last night and averaged 34MPG on the way home, this was sitting at 70mph most of the way on cruise!
Having owned diesel cars for the past few years, its a big shock to me! Lol.
-
9mpg @ Brands Hatch (GP circuit) :happy2:
-
42mpg
-
Most was 41mpg
getting about 28 around town now,

I have the exact same problem. Managed 36.2mpg on the motorway when i picked my ED30 up last week, nothing compared with the 60+mpg i used to get from my remapped Fabia Vrs tdi. Oh well, its all good fun :-)
-
Anywhere from 350- 410 from a tank, typically 50-51 litres
-
I get around 37 from town driving and 44+ on motorway
-
9mpg @ Brands Hatch (GP circuit)
:signLOL: love it.
in my GTI at the mo i usually see around 20-22mpg going to work and back, but this is literally stop, start every 2mins at traffic lights :fighting: :fighting:
ive seen 35 on the way 2 leicester before and tbh i was well chuffed with that
-
South Wales to Devon and back, 37 mpg average
-
Think I've saw 50mpg.big difference coming from a big power frs.tho I do miss the performance side.wish I had bought a gti now.
-
63mpg from the Golf, 37mpg from the vRS.
-
44mpg ko3 gti driving it like a nun though lol,but have seen 8mpg on a friday on way home from work :happy2: :driver:
-
67mpg? Jesus were you driving in 6th doing 20mph? :signLOL:
Average 26mpg on my 20 minute drive to work if i take it easy or about 16mpg if i dont :innocent:
Dave
-
46.1mpg from a cold start in Crewe driving at road speed limits (30mph through town 68- 70mph on motorway) over M62 to wetherby. :star:
Mine is a GTI btw (not a diesel) :P
-
Mine was 19MPG around buttertubs. :-)))

Terible isnt it dude! Small price you pay though i suppose!

I get 40+mpg on a daily run to work, manage 38ish on the way back, average is around 35mpg at the mo as i'm conserving the clutch lol...
On a positive note, worked out it only costs another £168 a year to run v-power all the time, plus I get points and they currently have an offer that it you spend over £25 on V you get a free coffee/tea/ hot chocolate which has been nice on these cold dark evenings... mmmm :signLOL:
-
55MPG on a drive from Winchester to Manchester driving at 60mph pretty much all the way.

That sounds wayyy better than im getting! What do you get to a tank mate?
-
36.4mpg on a 180 mile journey, half motoroway, half A roads, it would have been much higher but I was not hanging round either
-
Saw 36mpg quite often on std 17s ,changed to 18s can't see 30 ,hope its just computer arsing about. :sad1:
-
well I normally put 32litres in (always fill on litres as point per litre!) and that gives me 270-280 miles normally...
-
I think iv hit around 65 - 67ish, that was blackburn to kendal at a steady 60ish! (diesel by the way!)
-
Ave 33mpg on a trip from Cumbria to Kent and back, wasn't really trying though. Its never been anywhere near since!
-
ahh....so the derv's do show quite a difference....and I was right to suspect something about my Injectors, only getting around 47mpg :jumpmove:
If only they did what they did with the MK4 and Make Derv Anniversary models....they were great ! :pomppomp:
**ducks and weaves to avoid the incoming missiles ** !!! :P

Surely someone has beaten this? Standard '05 Gti with very little fuel  From Keswick doing 45mph along the A66, and then 56mph on the M6 until the Shell station north of Carlisle. About 40 miles in total. It was averaging 60mpg when joining the M6. Should have taken a pic then
Never seen that much since :signLOL:
-
I think my highest sustained reading was 60.3MPG last winter going up the A74M - was very cold and quiet, so I just sat with cruise on.
Think on the way back it reverted to 46MPG!
-
On my Edition30 I see 31mpg to work and back(8 mile round trip!)plenty of stop's and start's so am quite happy, and have managed to reach 40mpg driving like a nun on a 125 mile run,to be quite honest I do so little mileage a year I DON'T CARE.Mpg seem's to have gone up since the car has been remaped!
-
I average 27mpg on a combined cycle, never seen more than 34mpg including long motorway journeys.
-
32mpg on a 50miles motorway trip at 70mph on the ed30.
-
32mpg on a 50miles motorway trip at 70mph on the ed30.
:scared: I don't think I could afford to run a petrol these days....jeez.....blue motion anyone ? :signLOL: ERmm....NO !!!
-
lads, how is it possible to get more then 40 mpg on gti??? I doubt that computer readings are right.... I drove to work today gti stage 1 and 60 mph all the time and totalled 8l per 100km which is 35 mpg... on a motorway, perhaps if you just start your engine and hit the motorway straight away then keep 40mph all the way and not one stop nor traffic lights and just to add to that +18 degrees so that the engine warms up quickly it would be doable for me anyway.... I guess the post should be titled what is your car computer display MPG record and not MPG record??

Good point about the accuracy of the computer....however I will confirm the "actual" MPG I am getting for this tank of fuel via litres to fill Vs Miles covered...tomorrow when I fill up. We will see the difference.
Also, bear in mind the figure pictured was for a single journey, so please view it in that context .

Exactly, I drive 80% motorway and 20% city and heavy traffic and the average full tank based on actual usage consumption would be 10l per 100 km
-
Got 400 miles out of a full tank on a journey down south, from memory the computer averaged ~36mpg
-
Best ever sustained mpg was 42.9 over 100miles on the M1. doing about 65mph and the road works helped.
-
Funny this thread should pop up, I've been getting an average of 18MPG over a full tank of VPower :sad1:
Mind u this has been on short journeys & lots of start/stop sadly. Over a full tank of VPower I'm getting around 195 miles
-
im getting 350 miles to a tank on average ( ive only had the car 2 weeks but got through 3 tanks already  ) and id say my average trip reads 32mpg ish but i have seen it as low as 22 and also as high as 39 !

Currently the trip says I have covered 648 miles and I still have 70 miles range, that's a lot of miles to a tank (zero range on display) Will fill up tomorrow and work out actual MPG for the tank full.
-
648miles to a tank in a GTI? Seriously? Best i've seen estimated on mine was about 540 but didnt make that as wasn't motorway cruising the whole tank :signLOL:
Edit: ignore that just saw your first post again and saw your diesel dials

Ok, this morning I filled up.
I have covered 696 miles
I filled 54.01 litres
12.02 Gallons
57.89 MPG on this tank ! :innocent:
-
Sorted my tyre pressures out this morning. Seems running 1.6 bar instead of 2.5 bar is the reason I've been struggling of late. Nice country road route today, 13 miles at the speed dictated by the people in front of me... not bad for stage 1 gti

So I'm filling up with VPower, around £68-70 worth. My drive to work is around 4-5mins every morning & that's at 6am when temps are low. It stays parked up most days till 6pm when I finish and then maybe another 10min drive to gym then another 5 min drive from gym to back home. So overall v short journeys and not much driving in general. Worked it out and I'm getting round 17.2-17.5MPG n average with only around 190 miles to a full tank.... WHAT, can this be right coz TBH this sort of MPG seems ridiculous to me... Whats people's opinions, is it the short journeys killing my mpg....?
-
Best - 32mpg
Average - 22-26mpg
-
Stage1 edition30 , 10 mile drive to work with light traffic , not caining it , 31 mpg
-
Daily drive 52-56
Best 70.1 (Drive to Inters)
2.0 BKD Diesel

OOO Yeah...tyre pressure critical to good MPG and indeed handling....check mine about once a week :innocent:

1.4 TSI 170...
Best on a run 45MPG (mostly motorway)
Over the tank 40MPG (with some town driving)
Worst over a tank 32MPG
Pipercross air filter (don't think it makes much difference, possibly 1-2mpg)
With my old 140 TSI and a remap the best I ever got was 50MPG on a run! :) from 197BHP :)
-
Average 66.9 MPG daily
Best 76.3
-
Average 66.9 MPG daily
Best 76.3
you must live right next to the Motorway like me !! :P
-
I might have to limit my MPG greed, I just put 58 Litres into the tank.....I am certainly pushing my luck close to being stranded !! :surprised:
-
Well my Ed30 was filled with V power around 3 weeks ago and so far I have done 301.7 miles and the range still says I have 140 miles left (showing around 1/3rd tank left), 200 miles of that was motorway and de-restricted A roads and the rest pootling back and forth to golf club (4 mile round journey)..
Cant quite believe it thus far as by 300 miles usually the fuel light is on saying I have 30 miles left.

Probably about right to be honest, short journeys with a cold engine and stop start traffic kill mpg. TFSI only starts getting good MPG when it gets warm and at cruising speed.

what are the gtis like with a decat on
