Post by: Buzetti on January 07, 2022, 08:53:52 am
I like the look of this little baby (at the right price!😁)

Anyone close to Atherstone who could take a look at it for me, for a fee? (I’m 200 miles away…)

Cheers

£15K for a MK5, are you frickin kidding me

The world truly has gone mad.

Half arsed detail on it as well.  Oh it's only done 15K miles, that is what will sell it, just clean it and lob it up for sale under some mega bright studio lamps.  Lazy.

Agree! - They could have put a little more effort into the prep here, dent on the boot next to the NSR lamp too, exhaust not polished, rusty arch fixings..

I think you could do much better for half the price!!

15k.... never understood why people pay so much just because of super low miles. Time breaks just as many components as running mileage does! That is only going to go down in value I bet at such a crazy price, it is the standard model as well and not a pirelli or ed30 so even more likely that its over priced. If it were me I would cut the budget by 5k and look to get a very very good ed30 for 10k. Low miles on a car of this age is not necessarily a good thing, it's not like they're a ferrari f40 that's been serviced every month on a trickle charge inside a heated showroom, probably just sat on someone's drive rotting like the rest of ours

It's your money though, and this is just my worthless opinion

Yeah exactly. The chassis and every bush fitted to it are still the same age as a car that's done 10x the mileage.  Tyres, cam belts, plastics and bushes all harden and rot with age, regardless of mileage.

So that leaves a 15K old engine, unchipped/scratched paintwork and seats that haven't been farted on by several different owners.  That lot still isn't worth 15K in my book!  That is Golf 6R DSG money, maybe even an early 7R.  I know what I'd rather have!

Haven't read the blurb, but I bet the cambelt hasn't been done

I wouldn't pay that silliness for a 5 mile old Pirelli or ED30, let alone a GTI!

i paid less than that (almost)brand new in 2007 :happy2:  I have no doubt it will sell once someone sticks an ed30 badge on it :signLOL:

This Pirelli edition (Jap import) with decent miles (67k) sold on collecting cars for half that just 6 months ago.

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2009-volkswagen-golf-mk5-gti

This seems way over the top.

Or this Red mk5 import with just 15k miles.

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2005-volkswagen-golf-mk5-gti-1

Would look into the Jap cars as they are generally rust free.

Lol yeah, I was just thinking brand new GTIs probably weren't far off that, after discount/trade-in etc!

Much more sensible pricing, and look equally in good condition!

Shocking I bought the exact same car inc the winter pack and colour!! It was a 2005 '05' plate in 2010 with 40k for £8k cash:-)
Can't believe how well they've held there money.
5 years ago you could have bought a clean 05 plate with 90ish K miles for £3500, they're still that price now!
Love the red colour suits the car so well..

15k is an absolute p133 take for that vehicle no matter what the miles are!
