Can anything be done to clamp down on the hideous amounts of spam that we've been getting over the last few weeks? :thinking: :fighting2:

Up the security for registration.

You mods must be doing a good job as I can't say I've noticed any?
SeatCupra.Net on the other hand - been loads lately and very little action from the mods on there

The ones I've noticed is the same person spamming as many threads as he can will porn links and it's not vehicle porn, I mean what's the matter with those Russian dickheads!

You wont see it as all first posts that new members make have to be approved before they are shown.
We did this so that the general forum members wouldnt see the f*ck loads of spam posts.

It's a pain cause I don like to delete them en mass in case of deleting genuine posts from new users

Are you still blocking IP addresses etc? Where is the spam coming from which country? Just block access for those countries

I've been trying to ban the users by ip, user name, the lot
Strong effort if they're actually repeatedly coming back and making so many posts!
Does the user see the post just no one else?
They may think they're successfully posting if so

Do they originate from certain countries? Is so, you can get the host (United hosting) to block them from access to the domain fullstop

That was a pita, not done much coding on the forum lately so forgot whats what :stupid:
Anyway in theory spammers will only be able to create two posts now per registered account.
Should limit the amount of posts the moderators have to remove.
It would help if a few people could create a new account and test.

Has this made a little difference guys? I've had a little look through the logs and spammers have not been able to post more than 3 post.

Why not just set it to 1 post for new users.... then unlock/block the account one you see its genuine/spam

at the moment its two post that need approving. Maybe they will get clever and post nice car etc as the first post
