Title: RCD 330G Plus - Bluetooth error
Post by: sambo101 on March 09, 2017, 10:00:37 am
i have fitted an RCD330G Plus to my 2005 Golf.

Everything works except for the Bluetooth, when you try to turn on the Bluetooth an error message comes up saying "To use Bluetooth please switch on the ignition."

With the ignition on the Bluetooth still won't operate. I am aware that you need an updated CANBUS module to resolve the power drain issue with newer head units in some older models Mk5's but is that the case with the Bluetooth also?

Could the unit be failing to see that the ignition is on as I still have the old CANBUS module in the car?

Any help really appreciated as I don't want to shell out on a new coded CANBUS module if this error will still occur, thanks

Anyone have any thoughts?

Might end up selling the 330G Plus

Has the seller been able to shed any light on this for you? I'm awaiting mine arriving so can't really offer any help mate.

What version is your gateway?

I do have the old gateway installed.

But i thought it was just the battery drain issue that you needed the new one for. I plugged it in to make sure it was all working and then got the bluetooth error.

I have mailed the sell "aidu" on Ali Express, will update with the response

My RCD does this until you turn the key fully and the clocks fire up.

Sounds like the radio / canbus isn't seeing this.
It's easy to blame the canbus first, but you can't be sure unless you try it.
