Title: Newbie in North Devon
Post by: JR.303 on September 11, 2019, 07:35:18 am
Hi, I have just come from a Fiat coupe 20v turbo which was stage 1 remapped with a few other mods but the bottom end went sadly.
Anyway on Saturday I am off to pick up a 5dr 2007  totally standard gti with 90,000 on the clock with history.
I have a couple of questions.
Are the cheaper stainless exhausts on ebay any good to fit before a stage 1 remap?
And is there an easy way to fit aux in on the standard stereo?
How will I know if I need to clean the inlet valves , sort the diverter valve and do the cam follower?
Is there anyone in N. Devon around to meet up and advise maybe?
I have had a mk2 gti nd two mk2 sirocco's in the past.

Welcome to the group dude.

The cheap eBay exhaust systems will only rust, and the welds will be poor quality so will end up cracking & splitting, causing major blows. As they say.. buy cheap, buy twice.

If there is no history of the inlet valves being done then get it done, as it will be bad purely due to the age.

Again the same with the cam follower and diverter valve. There has been many revisions on the diverter valves as well, the latest being 'G'. If there is no history of it being done, then for the sake of how much both cost I would get it done purely for peace of mind.  :happy2:

Definitely worth saving the extra pennies and getting it done right the first time.

Give AKS Tuning a shout if you need these parts supplied for a good price.
