Title: RNS 510 Telephone and BT Audio Not Working

Hi Guys,

I've got a bit of an issue. I've recently installed an RNS 510 (Part number/revision: 1T0 035 680 B) into my Mk5 GTI along with the upgraded Can-Bus (part number/revision: 7N0 907 530AH)

The radio and sat nav work no problem but I recently tried installing a bluetooth module (part number/revision: 5K0 035 730) I got from a friend along with the harness/adapter and have a bit of a problem... my phone can see the module and is able to connect and the unit recognises my phone has been connected but doesn't play music?

The BT Audio option is ticked in the setup but anytime I start playing music and select media, the unit states no media playing (paraphrasing here) and if I put in a CD, I can see the BT Audio option but it's greyed out and I can't select it. My phone is also marked as being able to take calls/play media in my bluetooth settings so I don't think it's an issue with my phone.

As for the telephone/hands free, a friend can phone me but I can't answer (however I can decline) but when I try to dial a number via the unit, I get an error.

A friend has VCDS and as far as he can see, everything is coded/enabled as it should be.

Any ideas?  :thinking:

hi mate
this might be a long shot, but i remember having similar issues when i had my M3....    what you need to do is go through your phone book and check for any names stored that have an emoji attached to it and delete the emoji.

thats what worked for me..  let us know if that makes a difference

Alright, I'll give that a shot as I do have contact names with emoji's. Hopefully it works :happy2:

Gave this a try today but still the same issues with playing music and calling.

Anyone else got any ideas? Could it be that the coding for the Can-Bus is wrong? I've got one of the later units which has short coding which was different to the one my friend coded previously.

The only other thing I could think of is that the BT unit is too old or is faulty.
