Hello everyone,
So BWA engine in question. Car drives perfectly normal and pulls nicely at anything below 4500-5000 RPM. When i hit high rpm the engine will cut off for just a split second and i lose all power. Doesnt happen every single time but more often than not. There arent any faults in vcds when this does happen.
I bought vcds just to help me troubleshoot this thing but i need help as to what to monitor/record.
Ive cleaned the intake valves , replaced the fuel rail press sensor, the in tank fuel pump and (hpfp cam follower about 15000km ago). I am not sure of the state of the HPFP cam lobe but ill opent it up if needed. I WILL do anything to get this fixed i just hope i wont waste too much money doing it and that is why i need help. Thank you

Have heard of crank sensor causing this
VCDS - Go to Engine > measuring blocks> group 001 log the rpm , do a pull and hope it faults, should see a drop out.

Actually could make a lot of sense since my rev needle "spasms" for a lack of a better word when this happens. Ill do some testing today and report back. It just stumps me why it wouldnt throw any codes

Ive done a couple of pulls and here are the results
First column is time stamp than engine speed than cooland temperature than lambda control and last is basic setting

I dont know how to post the excell file here
But as you can see there are 2 instances where the sensor seems to have drop outs?? At least I'm guessing thats what it is.
I've allready ordered a new one since it wasnt too expensive (around 30 euros).
What do you think?

Yes can see a couple of drop out where the rpm drops to 0, crank sensor should fix it, let us know

I have replaced it today but didnt have a lot of time to do the testing. Did only a couple of hard accelerations hitting the rev limiter and seems to be ok. Im not yet 100% sure its fixed but ill report in "some" time and let people know.
Btw visually there wasnt anything wrong with the sensor
