Happened to see this today while having a nosey round.

You can't replace the plastic, you need an entire new sensor unit. Very pricey piece of kit too.
Chances are your lights have been blinding people or pointing at the ground since it happened.
Cheapest fix is to cable tie it at the halfway point.

It's connected to the wishbone. As you hit a bump, the wishbone naturally moves up/down with the pressure. This is reflected with the sensor and the headlight level changes accordingly.

Not related to op's original question but do these work as intended? You're driving along and you go over a bump or pothole, the wishbone moves, the suspension does its job and the car stays level....but your headlights move. Really? I can't see the sense in this. If it's set up to accommodate low frequency changes like load in the car by suspension compression then yes but not high frequency bumps surely?

Its more to adjust the level if you have a heavy weight in the back or are towing which changes the pitch of the car

If it's set up to accommodate low frequency changes like load in the car by suspension compression then yes but not high frequency bumps surely?
The second point about low frequency changes makes more sense to me, which is backed up by what rich said

Good link that last post.....Now I see what it's all about. What a complex set up, just to level headlights! What's wrong with just being able to do it manually with a twirly thing next to the headlight switch for up or down. As commented, really only for heavy weight in the back of the car, otherwise the lights would be up and down like a yo-yo - over-engineered - in my opinion. Something else to look out for.......where's my torch? :doh:
