I just get it all from my local VW or Audi dealer. Sometimes I get a discount, sometimes I don't.

I phoned RPS and ordered over the phone.

You can get oil and filters from Eurocarparts which are identical to OEM parts. Also they sell spark plugs (NGK BKR7EIX) which are the ones to get.

DV and cam follower I would only get from VW.

Now TPS are not selling to the public, people like RPS will be extra busy, and may take longer to process orders/quotes.

So is RPS a dealer trying to fill the gap left by tps no longer selling to the public?

RPS is basically the parts manager from Worcester of one of the Listers group, selling genuine parts to the public, through Facebook at discounted prices.  https://www.facebook.com/retailpartsspecialists/

He has a Linkedin profile and his e mail is a Listers one.

From another thread on here

I emailed Michael on Michael.Hindle@listers.co.uk - make sure you add "RPS Online Quote" in the subject line to get the RPS pricing.

I suggest your local dealer if that is your experience of pattern parts.  Or, AKS Tuning sell OEM service parts, and their mail order service is excellent.

I wouldn't expect a timely service from companies who use Fecesbook as a sales outlet.

I asked my local garage for their TPS account no.  and I’ve been using it ever since.

Maybe worth asking a local garage around you for theirs. Or get a garage to order parts if they won’t give you their acc no.

Full mann filters service kit (oil, air, cabin (carbon activated), fuel) currently on eurocarparts for mk5 gti works out £45.

Local dealer just quoted me £92 for the same 4 "VW" filters.

Mann is a high quality OEM manufacturer, never had any problems with anything made by them?

Add to that 4 NGK spark plugs from Awesome GTI for £38 and 5L of Quantum 5W-40 from eBay for £20 and you've got yourself a very cheap full service.

Not everybody pays full retail for dealer parts though

VW change OEM suppliers regularly.  I prefer to stick with the most up-to-date stuff personally, but what ever works for you.  It's not always about doing things as cheaply as possible, but the best quality possible.

I am after a T10035 tool. Anyone know where I can get them from?  I had one but I cannot find it anywhere.  :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:

I agree about it being more about quality than cost totally. That’s why I only buy parts from manufacturers I know are proven in terms of quality.

If you wanted to go cheap, ECP sell parts from companies I’ve never heard of, and you could probably get the service kit down significantly in comparison with the Mann stuff.

But I know Mann are an oem supplier for various German cars and make good stuff that also represents good value for money. I will not pay VW or bmw or anyone else a premium to Re-box things for me when I don’t have to

It's interesting you asked about service parts for VW, because there is actually a load of dealers in the UK that might help you. If you'll check online, you'll find a lot of them offering you VW service parts. Ideally, in order to get genuine parts for your car, you should contact VW official representatives back in Germany. One thing you must not forget is that these cars were originally manufactured only in Germany, that's why their service price might be slightly higher. On the other hand, you still have a better chance to get genuine vw accessories that will work, in comparison to, let's say, citroen accessories (https://www.otopartshop.com/product-category/citroen/), because of the difference in numbers of cars sold in the UK. In any case, I wish you good luck.

I stupidly bought the single tool from Autodoc then looked at that whole kit on Amazon. They're about the same price.  :fighting2:

£8.45 postage from Autodoc.  :scared:

TPS account discount is dependant on how much you buy month on month - this suggestion is not that daft as it adds to the garages sales figure.

I have been using my local TPS for years. They have even given me an account number to use, not that I plan to make a habit, but I can still actually ruck up without calling in the order before.

For service stuff I buy Quantum Platinum oil by the cube, works out (iirc) around £26 for 20L from TPS

Edit: Forgot to mention one anomaly with TPS is they can't sell special tools, that is dealer only and then its their discretion.

Just to update the info regarding RPS Online - this is now run buy Seat Listers in Coventry. I ordered genuine front wings from them and had been dealing with the parts manager directly - Adrian Collison who was really helpful and did a really good deal on the front wings for me. You can reach contact Adrian directly on 02476 456700 or email adrian.collison@listers.co.uk.

Hope this helps

Anyone used this outfit before? https://www.buycarparts.co.uk

Legit?  Seems like it's another one of those 'Meat and Doria' autodoc type companies.  I'm really paranoid about cheap parts being Chinese knock-offs these days

They looked like the same company to me when I’ve looked at parts.
I usually just go for Mann stuff from carparts4less or euro whichever is cheaper at the time.
Quantum 20l oil cubes on eBay seem to be reasonable value.

Thanks mate, I'll give them a whirl.  ECP/CP4L don't sell the part I need unfortunately.  It's a shaft seal that costs a bomb from VW but Victor Reinz or Elring are both good, which buycarparts sell.
