Has anyone else had the following problem.....
On a long journey after maybe an hour and a half my RNS510 limits the volume to 11. It wont let me put it higher than this, and it wont rectify itself until the car has been switched off and on again.
Anyone have any idea why this could be and what the solution is?
It's a retro-fit unit and although it has a 12 month warranty, if its only a small issue there's no point going back to them.
Thanks

Hi Uz,
Definitely don't get this on mine, my average commute is well over an hour each way and especially on the way home I have it louder than 13 on the twisty bit for the last 10-15 mins
-
Not noticed it on mine either, do you know what software version it is running ?
-
Thanks for the replies guys,
It's got the original software they came with when first released, I never got round to updating to V2.
I wonder whether a software upgrade may cure the problem?
If not it's going to have to be a visit to the place where I got it from, where customer service is shocking to say the least.
My unit always seems to run very hot to the touch as well, if yours aren't the same then mine's definitely a duff unit!
-
do you mean v2 map ?, as the software is completely different (as in firmware)
-
Yes, sorry Blue for not making myself clear.
Is there any way to check the exact software version from the unit? I left it at work today but will have a look in the morning to be certain.

upon a new entry to the car, i.e. after you unlock and get in, dont put key in ignition, just turn navi on by hand, immediately press and hold SETUP for 15 seconds, release and you will have the hidden menu screen.
if you get FM/AM/DAB menu instead, you'll have to start all over again.
this may help

Cheers mate.
I've tried holding down the setup button, but I get that AM/FM/DAB screen every time!
As an aside, does this mean that subject to installing the correct aerial, the RNS510 supports DAB?

Nope DAB is going to be an add on (possibily), it now listed as an option for the Rocco with the RNS-510 :happy2:

try
Get in your car put your key in the ignition and turn it so the lights come on the speedo, as soon as you see the VW splash screen hold the setup button on your RNS-510 and it will go into the service menu.
how old is the unit ?, ps you need to it at the splash screen
-
Right, got it now!
Had the unit since April. Have a warranty on the unit until next April but it's just a pain taking it back to the place in Leicester.
-
did you find your firmware ?

Left the car at work today, so as soon as I get in tomorrow morning, I'll have a look and post up the info for you.

Ahh right far enough! Have either of you guys got the iPod connection in your car. If so, can you dock the iPhone in it and still have the phone working by bluetooth at the same time?

Right,
HW.........H04
SW.........1000
Does that make sense?
