has it gone ?, is it off a GTi ?

is it the motorised valve flap v157 ? , if it is its called an Anti shudder valve, it closes when the engine shuts off, the motor fails and the part needs changing (sometimes it just gets stuck so cleaning can fix), you should have an engine managment light come on when its gone, also it can blow the fuse for the radiator.

No it's fine, i was just asking as i have an EGR delete pipe for my car and it bolts to it.

Just wondered what it was and it's cause/effect on the engine.

Ohh and it's on my GT170 Diesel.

it closes when the car is turned off, stops it from shuddering, it doesnt do anything other than close when turned off, removing it would cause the engine warning light to stop on, plus can blow the fuse i mentioned
