Hey guys,
Parked the car up outside my office, turned the radio off and turn off ignition and too key out... and the radio turns back on...
The screen says 'error.. check cd'. I have a bluetooth receiver that is wired in through the cd input on the back of the radio. It's been there since I bought the car, so don't know exactly how it's wired it. Don't have any spanner or anything with me to disconnect the battery.. and the corresponding fuse in the manual seems to be empty
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Try keeping the on off button pressed whilst you switch the ign. on and off

Thanks titchy. Just tried that there, but if as soon as I turn the radio off (holding the power button down or not) while switching ignition the radio just forces itself back on..

Is there a CD in there? If not try putting one in and see if it helps. Anythings worth a go!

Thanks for the idea! Only blank ones to hand which it keeps spitting out.. so will have to wait till later to try one with music on it!

Pull fuses one by one till it STFU!

Disconnected the battery overnight to see if it would reset itself and still nothing..... argh....
Might disconnect the bluetooth adapter incase the wiring is faulty and throwing a signal to it even when off

I wonder if it could be a problem with the ignition switch, seems a strange one.

I did wonder about that. But the radio itself won't turn off at all, even when the car is running. As soon as I turn it off, it turns back on with a "CD error" message.
I've tried inputting a cd and it won't even play it, just spits it back out.. going to check the bluetooth input cable which goes through the cd changer input at the back.
Thanks for the reply though

Sounds like the radio unit has shorted in power input?
Try removing and disconnecting the unit

I've experienced weirdness with ignition switch and radios on other VW's -definately a possible culprit
