Post by: phillips on May 15, 2014, 07:45:03 pm
The Jetta is standard at the moment, only had it a week! But that will slowly start changing over the next year +

Some Spec:

Bought / Ordered / Fitted Bits:

Cup holder / bottle opener insert
Replaced the badges on the keys

Booked in for a detachable swan neck towbar

Haven't even had chance to give it a really good clean. Its covered in Tar etc.........

So what coilovers would people recommend? Never used them before as had lowering springs on the toledo.

Starting to do my research but don't want to part with more than £500 when the time comes to buy some.

For that price I'd recommend some Apex RDX if you're wanting something that handles good and goes low.  Or Some AP coilovers if you're not bothered about major lows but want something that's going to be comfy.  I'm actually going for some Apex as soon as I have the cash :).  I'm currently on Fk Streets and they go really low but are quite harsh to be fair.

Thanks for the info I'm not fussed about mega lows its more about handling with comfort  :happy2: 40 - 50mm max would do me

Welcome to the slippery slope of modding, after only 1 week you have a list.
I was running on B12 kit and just had the RDX's fitted and its a lovely ride and I'm on 18's

Roof bars & tow bar, do you feel you need more storage?

Looking forward to seeing where this goes

Stanipkiss I run a kayak group so once a month during summer periods I have 12 kayaks on / attached to my car. As well as running other trailers about (WWW.KEWPADDLERS.CO.UK) sorry admin if not allowed to put this link up  :happy2:

After cleaning it on Sunday it's also in need of a proper detail as I cannot to be bothered to spend the am punt of time it needs machine polishing it to get the swirls out :(

I did find the AP ones for £433 :) and from what I've seen the rdx ones take me over budget

Tow bar got fitted a few weeks ago pretty pleased with how discreet it is. Mrs bought me some 18" Zenith wheels today from a chap on briskoda I did have to contribute some money towards them. Wheels are an early birthday present as its my 25th in a few weeks :) Tyres were shot on the old wheels so needed to put them on  :happy2:

Does need lowering but think that could be looking at next year with needing the cambelt and DSG service later this year.

Not much is happening but thought I would do a small update.

Did LED Conversion on the interior but need two more for the foot well lights.

Im booked in at AKS Tuning for Cambelt, DSG, and standard service in September I was hoping to possible have it lowered by now but Im waiting to find out if I'm being made redundant which really doesn't help things with car insurance next month as well.

Hi mate, does the air vent work? Does it separate the air that would normally come out of the centre two vents?

Yeah works a treat, on 0 air comes out front normal two vents, Middle comes outs both just about and fully on just the top  :happy2:

How are you getting on with the map?

Post by: phillips on January 19, 2015, 07:18:09 am
Map is great have been dying to get it done since I bought it as my last car was mapped. Found it drives a lot smoother with less effort now  :happy2: Haven't really had chance to give it full beans much but did have a play with a mk6 GTD and from that I think it is running close to REVO's top quoted figure of 185. Hoping for improved MPG when driving normally as doing 300+ miles a week.

Any other big plans??

Yeah need to get it on the rollers next time there is a charity day or something.

Plans yes; Lowered, RNS315 or 510, Highline Cluster, Wheel spacers and thats it. May consider a bit more power at some point but not that fussed about how quick it is.

I have always thought of mapping mine but not sure with the mileage that I do, around 600 miles a week and currently on 172500. Careful you don't go to low or your wear through the inside of the fronts like I do, oh and having to raise the rear on mine to tow our trailer tent  :surprised:

Wont be going massively low as im not a slammed fan. Will be 30 - 40mm max plus towing will be an issue for me aswell if I got to low. My Toledo was dropped 30mm and was fine for towing.
