Title: Dog Bone Mount Insert - Whats the best of the 3 cheapest?
Post by: Molesy on September 27, 2017, 01:49:12 pm
Hi All,

Going to get the Dog Bone Mount Insert shortly, so whats the best between Powerflex, Superpro and ECS - given that there's only a few quid between them all thought I'd ask people thoughts.

Cheers,

Molesy  :happy2:

I have an ECS one and after reading the reviews on here thought it would be amazing.

It does a good job acceleration feels smoother but on Reverse (DSG) makes loads of creaking noises.. irritating to say the least

Thanks shoaybmakda - I heard some people get issues like vibrations etc particularly on DSG equipped cars although my car is manual - anyone had to remove this because of issues?

I have vibatechnics mount and the small mount as well.
My car had terrible vibration when first install on tick over but has settled massively.
My car is also a dsg so you makes it’s worse great mod for me I get zero wheel hop and everything is nice and tight.

The best isn't an insert...it's a replacement which eliminates the voids altogether:

I can't speak of the 034 ones but the Vibratechnics ones are solid and they don't rattle your fillings.

I have an ECS tuning one that was already fitted when I bought the car and it doesn't give me any problems, I also have a manual.

Given that 034 motorsports may not be available there...vibratechnics would be my choice. Mine weren't noticeable, but I replaced all three mounts at the same time of adding the 034's.

I put a yellow poweflex insert in mine 8 months/4k miles ago (roughly) and noticed no downsides, only good. No increased noise or vibration at idle, gear changes and acceleration seem slightly smoother, stiffened up the engine movement on harder gear changes especially. Also when stationary, revving the engine causes less movement of the engine in the engine bay. I wouldn't hesitate to fit again.  :happy2:

So just to update the thread, had this and other bits fitted a week ago. After initial fitment I did get some vibration come into the cabin but since then the 400 miles I've covered have settled it in and now its barely noticeable. There is far less movement from the engine and it feels tighter all round from the drivetrain. So for a £25 it great.

I have the HPA mount HVW-904-75 and it has an OEM feel to it, little or no vibration and is perfect in everyway, it's fitted to my MK6 but it's not cheap.

I fitted revo mounts on my Ed30. Dogbone insert didn't last 5mins. Went for vibratecnics instead and haven't looked back. Bit harsh at first, but wot do ya expect with stiffer mounts, after few months to bed in, one of best mods u can do.

Agreed, they are excellent. Polyurethane is quite possibly the worst material to use for engine support and noise suppression, and also chassis components.
My Whiteline ALK ovaled out because of ‘creep and set’, which caused tramlining worse than stock console bushes.  Rubber for engines, rubber for chassis  :happy2:
I think some folk would fit polyurethane tyres if they were available

Ive noticed the powerflex offers two different pattern fitments.
For an 07 dsg eddy anyone know what one would be needed??
Thanks
