Title: Newbie looking for a 5 door DSG GTI - anyone selling?
Post by: simundo777 on January 23, 2018, 04:34:00 pm
Hi all,

On the hunt for a mk5 GTI. Needs to be DSG and needs to be 5 door.

Any one thinking of selling? Cash waiting for a decent car.

Went to look at one today but had a few rust spots that could be expensive to fix and always prefer to buy a forum car.

Cheers, Simon

What's your budget? What are you looking for spec wise? Mileage?

Not too fussed on spec. Actually prefer cloth, 17's.

Ideally candy white, 5 door, DSG.

Mileage: will buy on condition.

Anything up to £7k for the right car. Just want a decent well looked after car.

@simundo777 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=25096)  what mileage preference do you have?

I have a candy white MK5 5 door DSG with full VW history and had the boot and wings replaced by VW under warranty. Excellent spec car including xenons, sunroof, ED30 front and rear valance, MK6 cluster and MK6 steering wheel and a host of other bits

Not desperate to sell as i love the car to bits but contemplating moving to a MK6

Sounds lovely, mileage wise I'm open. I'd rather buy on condition so looking at both lower and higher mileage cars. By all means if you are serious to switch then PM me. I'm actively looking now.
Cheers, Simon

I was toying with the idea of selling mine, mainly due to a back problem (and moving over to an SUV...booooo). Mine is a 2005 (55), 5dr, 102k, DSG, graphite grey, leather, 18s (refurbished but picked up a few marks). Pretty excellent all round. It is original, with no mods and the following done recently:

- recon DSG box and mechantronic in July 17 (by Milta tech near Bristol) - £1700
- oil pick up pipe replaced and sump cleaned - July 17
- new tyres all round in the last 6 months
- full service history inc cambelt
- new pads all round
- replacement Kenwood DMX7017DABs head unit (android auto/apple play, spotify etc..) with reversing camera (£700 all in), have the original unit and CD changer
- everything works except passenger window switch (replaced last week but still won't function, window works from drivers side)
- few tiny rust spots on the bonnet from stone chips but no dents/scratchs

I searched for quite awhile to find the best one I could and travelling to get it.

I'm in Bristol. For the right price I could be persuaded to part with her. Had since Apr 17 and done about 7k (mostly motorway for work)

You probably can't message me either. I'm at martin at OGTclinical dot com

Thanks Martin, does sound good. Need to get my post count up.

Looked at a few recently but all been a bit shoddy, ideally trying to find something in fantastic condition.

Whaaaatt! You gotta be kidding......Look at the last but one shot, with the wheel on lock and door open - see the rust on the sill by the door opening, and the alloy's fooooked / kerbed. What a state to photo a car up for sale. Price prob reflects condition though. Sorry if I'm being harsh, but pay more and get something better IMO....

'Gremax' ditch finders, plus the usual absence of a driver's side seat bolster picture, which means it's f'cked or ripped 9 times in 10.

You just instinctively know it will be a bit ropey when you get close to it, but for £5K you can't have high expectations.  It's certainly not the worst I've seen.  A good little project for someone.

I think 'fantastic' condition for £7K is stretching it.   If you want perfection, you will need to up your budget accordingly.

Still looking and can up budget for the right car.

Did look at mk6's but think a mk5 makes more sense

just to confirm - thats actually an import from the UAE. u.k spec car - its actually an AXX engine and not on a BWA as the 07 plates are. not an issue - but just to remember comes with the annoying banjo bolt!!

@simundo777 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=25096) did you find a golf in the end? Mine has been sold but someone I know is selling their GTi too - it's black 5 door DSG and a lower mileage example
