Title: Worn inside edge of tyre
Post by: Bandito on October 19, 2019, 10:32:52 am
Recently bought a Mk5 golf GTi and as far as I can see completely stock.

However it's worn the inside edge of the tyre on the front, do they all do this ?

Is there a way to adjust camber on a standard car it's a 2009.

Getting some new tyres fitted today

If the tread blocks have feathered edges, it's the toe that's out.

You say 'the tyre' so just one of them is worn down?  Stock camber is -0.55 degrees, but due to poor subframe alignment at the factory, it's not uncommon for one side to measure an extra degree negative.   This normally only shows up as 1mm additional wear on the inside edge once the tyres reach half worn.   Excessive wear is an alignment issue.

Sorry it was both tyres, if they all wear a little on the inside standard it's probably normal to be fair

On the rears which run a fair chunk of negative camber, they're normally worn 1mm more than rest of the tyre on the inside edge come replacement time.  Up front with standard camber, the wear is usually even across the tyres their whole life.  You might get more wear on one tyre depending on which one spins the most.

That is as least the pattern of I've seen on mine over 5 years.
