Ok well I have been getting a knocking sound with my steering at low speeds. Usually at the start of my journey and end of my journey. Sometimes when I pull out of my parking space I may get 2 or 3 knocks in a row upon moving out.
Luckily I got the car in a position where I could replicate this sound.
Please note the car does not always do this in this position I.e if I went out there now it may not do the same thing when stood still.
Really want to get to the bottom of this problem so any ideas please look at my video and give me some ideas and prices to rectify!
Thanks

Anybody? :-(

Is there a universal joint on the mk5 just above the brake pedal, it sounds like its jamming to me. Can you feel a 'pop' when it makes the knock?

Is the car lowered? If so see here:

Car is not lowered but I'll probably change those bolts anyway especially for how cheap it is

I had this on my old megane GT , it was something to do with the steering rack, but i never got it fixed!!

I don't think the subframe bolts will solve your problem. Your noise is happening when the car is stationary? These subframe bolts are used to tighten everything up so there's little or no movement when the car is turning round a corner (no shift of weight), therefore no knock noise.
Might be the steering rack, cv joint or something?

I still get a knocking when shifting weight so I may as well change the subframe bolts.
That video was just an example of the sound I get but I also get a couple of knocks/pops sound when the steering wheel is stationary but turned and I am moving forward. And then it stops while I am driving normally.
I changed both of my cv joints quite recently also...

Do you think a wheel bearing gone is a possible cause of the knocking? As I do get a whirring noise at 70mph from that wheel I think it is.
