Yes mate the GTI brakes fit straight on.

Obviously you'll need new discs, pads ect.

Post by: mortygttdi on April 16, 2011, 11:12:04 pm
Has Lee said mate will fit straight on and unless you get the disc and pads and they are decent then you'll need new ones.  Has for price range from around £100 to about £400.

When I did my GTI brakes I just changed the carriers and discs then painted the original caliper red, was alot easier and ment I didn't have to bleed the brakes after.

The carriers I got second hand for £40 and the disc were new from tps for £80 pair. Not sure on pads as I had them already (but again they are the same as the gt tdi pads)

Car looks really good! I painted my standard calipers with hammerite red and it works well,  it's a good solution until you upgrade to 312mm setup whenever that may be. Worth keeping an eye on fleabay as your not in a rush they do pop up occasionally.

I'v only ordered the Non Res Milltek Cat-Back exhaust system and put an order in for the GTI rear valance, no downpipe tho. I was thinking of buying the resonated system but the guy at Awesome convinced me to get the Non Res
I hope it isn't too loud as mine is a diesel  :signLOL:

Had a look at invoice and as I had the downpipe fitted two months later after the cat back was fitted there's labour costs for both days

So the total I paid for all this fitted -
Milltek downpipe + non res cat back + gti rear valance + powerflex lower mount insert = £817

Welcome that's another diesel to add to this forum now :happy2:
car is looking great for modding
maybe SteveP should look at having a diesel area on the forum too

scott

Ha ha, try suggesting it on the Suggestions Sub-forum!! Shot down in Flames!! :scared: :fighting:

On a cheerier note, welcome to the OP from YET another GT TDI owner!  :jumpmove:

Loving the progress of the car. BBS CH's are the natural wheels for the car (or .:R Omanyt's)  :happy2:

You thinking of painting half of the the lower rear valance? Totally jealous of that delicious sounding milly.

Cheers mate.. Yeah your right about that CH's look  8)
I will be painting the lower rear valance later on this year or early next year. The whole front needs doing as it's a mess with a million stonechips  :fighting:

NO bbs ck are the best choice  :signLOL:

Lol, like Darren said only you have them so  :P

Plans sound good plans so far. Nice upgrade on the steering wheel. Currently looking for a Mk5 GTi one if anybody's selling...?

Just ordered my GTi rear lower valance which will get half-painted soon soon. Going for a custom made stainless exhaust tho. Tis cheaper and with endless possibilities.

Just to re-inforce the fact that CH's are so suited to the Mk5 here's a few more pics. No fitted pics yet as my Eibach sportlines aren't getting fitted for a week or two:

Coming on nice fella, how are you getting on with the wheels, I am after getting a set for my vRS but have been put off by horror stories of replica wheels cracking, buckling or the paint flaking.......?

I am toying with the idea of CH reps instead of paying out £300+ on refurbing my Zeniths, do you mind if I ask where you got yours and how much they set back?

I would be swapping my current tyres over, Hankook Evo V12's front and Kumho KU31's on the rear.  :happy2:

Thanks

Thanks

Nope, fairly easy, you will have to give it a pull to get the clips out and I think with the GTI bumper its only 2 screws rather than 4. Someone will correct me if am wrong  :happy2:

Hi
Is the steering wheel a straight swap or does it need coding?
Do the buttons work with the stereo?
I'm also in Hudds - who can fit 1 local?

cheers

Depends which steering module you have. Yes the buttons work with the stereo, Darren is the man from Leeds who fitted the steering wheel and coded it to work.
