Very true. I’ve had non res Milltek in the past and really rate them. To be honest i think i new i would go down this route. Like you say, it’s justifying it. It also keeps it looking stock which is important. Have a Pirelli and don’t want to stray too far from the standard look.

Heated wing mirrors
Last Poster: HusaamK in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Yesterday at 09:56:42 pm
Hey
Trying to get my heated wing mirrors working on my GTI

They wouldn'#039t come on with my switch
Test fitted another switch from another car, heated mirrors started working. Just put the connector into the switch, didn'#039t fit it in properly so decided it must be my switch
Bought a new switch from ebay but once again dont have heated wing mirrors

For those of you considering doing this, I recommend the Autoleads FP-009 cubby. Simple push fit and looks factory. Great for storing phones and the like.

Replaced rear caliper - handbrake now uneven
Last Poster: breeze in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 08:24:03 pm
I just replaced the OSR caliper on my car. Handbrake was not working on that side. I went with TRW which I understood to be the OEM part provider.

All went well, however I have noticed that the handbrake on the new caliper does not grab as quickly as the one on the NSR when pulling up the handbrake.

Thoughts? Aware that the hand brake on the caliper is suppose

If your seals were blown it would be oil - but that is dependant on there still being oil in there.
Bounce test on the suspect corner should reveal if it is still damping.

I could be wrong but I'#039ve heard that test is only good when the shocks/struts are totally shot....if

You would probably need the suspension parts from the B6 Passat Alltrack if you want to raise it up a bit.

I'm going to Rtech next week and they said my lowering springs would be fine on their dyno.

LLLParts or Cars245 are good for genuine parts at discounted prices.

Sent from my Samsung Smart Fridge
Had to wait a month for 2 packs of screws from LLLparts  Beware :happy2:

Hello all
New to the MK5 forum
Always wanted a mk5 GTI with a DSG and finally got hold of one a few months ago
Put a fair bit of money and work into getting it running so now it'#039s time to sit back and enjoy the forum
More of a youtube DIY'#039er than a competent mechanic - bet you love hearing that line!!

Looks like a good base.....I find the whole cleaning process quite relaxing and gives a massive sense of achievement when you can stand back and admire your handywork,
nbsp  The front grills on mine had a similar greyness to them as yours, I managed to save the lower middle one, but ha

Looks like a good project!
Plenty of options out there for a better stereo, I did put a Pioneer S820dab (now up for sale) unit in, but already changed to a Chinese rns510 lookalike, really good actually for the price, not quite as good sound as the Pioneer, but looks more OEM.

Manual Gearbox Shifter Linkage Bushings for MK5 GTI
£10.00
Location: Perth, Scotland
Postage: £2.00

OEM/Suplex standard height MKV GTI Springs
£20.00
Location: Perth, Scotland
Postage: £10.00
Delivery Only

Set of four springs at standard ride height for a MKV GTI, OEM fronts (probably Sachs) and Suplex (OEM replacement) rears. The fronts are missing some paint but aren't damaged and could easily be cleaned up/painted for some more life. The rears are much newer and have a bit of surface rust around the spring seats.
"PCD" 2x12mm Wheel Spacers
£25.00
Location: Perth, Scotland
Postage: £5.00
Delivery or Collection

As per title. 57.1mm centre bore, 5x112mm PCD. Note that these won't fit the rear axle as the spigot is too long but should be fine for the front. There's a groove (pictured) on one of the spacers from where I tried fitting it before realising this but it won't affect performance. Mating surfaces still clean and true. Includes longer wheel bolts.
H&R 10mm Wheel Spacers
£40.00
Location: Perth, Scotland
Postage: £5.00
Delivery or Collection

2x H&R Wheel Spacers, 10mm width. Brand new, never fitted, includes longer wheel bolts. Note that the box says 20mm although this refers to the total track width increase.
