Title: 10mm spacers
Post by: The wheel man on November 05, 2008, 03:10:46 pm
Hi Guys,

Some of you may already know that i have been looking into getting some 10mm hub centric spacers made for the MKV Golf.  Now i know some of you have already purchased the Eibach's at about £60 / £70 for the pair.  What i would like to know is if 10mm is the right size to have.  As these are being made to order by my supplier would 11mm or whatever be better?  I already have a price of about £40 for the pair (inc bolts) but this may change depending on the $ rate and exact size i go for.

Any comments or thoughts let me know as i can still change anything.....

Ben

What are the full spec of the wheels you have Joe??  Width & offset please.  i can work it out how they will fit compaired to the std wheels.

Are the eibach kits 15mm per wheel / 30mm per axle?

So are we saying 10mm or 12mm??????

I will be signing the order off tomorrow so i expect to get them just after christmas.  dont worry about payment or anything untill they arrive and you are ready to go ahead.  I will confirm the price once they leave but £40 is probably tops.

I will get this moved to the sale section once the size issue is sorted.

Just a thought, would people prefer black or silver bolts??

Ben

If 12mm dont cause any problems then i personally would plump for them, but 10mm will do for me i dont think i will be lying awake in bed at night thinking i wish i had gone for the extra 2mm. so i am happy with either, as far as the bolts go surely you cant go wrong with the same colour as they are now.

Put my name down for a set

I currently run 10mm front with 12mm rear.....

.... if i were to buy some more then i'd go for 12mm front and 15mm rear.

IMO that'd just sit alittle sweeter

Will this not induce rubbing if you are running a lower set up.

Right then guys it seems as though there are some different options available.  What i will do today is try some different options on the car and get some pics put up.  I have small shims that i can fit to set the look right, i will try..

10mm - Front & Rear
12mm - Front & Rear
15mm - Front & Rear

I should be able to get these pics up by dinner time as i need to get the order off today.......  I will also get a price for longer locking bolts

The pressure...................oooooh the pressure!!!!  i cant take it any more  :jumping:

have a look at the pic's.  I diddt bother looking at 12mm, diddnt seem to be any visual differance.  I also diddnt fit the 15mm to the front as it would stick out too far IMO.  So its just wether its worth having some 15mm for the rear...............

HHhMmm I am a bit worried about putting any in the front,  :scared:

I think 12's at the back for me.  :driver:

Just to confirm:

Top pic = 10mm Front
Middle Pic = 10mm Rear
Bottom pic = 15mm Rear

I think that i will have the 10mm front and possibly the 15mm rear's.  The front does look like it pushes the wheels right out but its better the the flesh as it were..

poop...........

I know what you mean though.  if your sticking with 18" and std suspension they are fine, woulddnt like to say on a lowered car though.  The 10mm did look good on the rear, i would probably say that if your lowering the car, have 10mm on the rear with a 5mm shim on the front.  Probably what i will end up having..........

OK final punt for me 10 or 12 on the back + bolts + 2 locking bolts, if you can get top quality ones at a good price.   :happy2:  :jumpmove:

Just checking on the locks, i can get them at 39mm thread length.  They are Cold forged and surpass Grade 12.9 and are coated with a 96hr tripple nickel / chrome finish.  The style is almost identical to McGard.   I can only get them in packs of 4 though.......

What i will now do is put in an order for 10mm and 15mm spacers, 40mm long bolts (radius seat) and 40mmn long locking bolts (again radius seat)  I think that i can get the locks for about £15 for you guys but i will confirm the full price once its in.  Again £40 would be tops for the kit and £15 tops for the locks.

If i can get the price any lower then i definaly will.  As im getting these in anyway, if your unsure of the quality / look of the kit then i am more thamn happy to show you them at the next meet i can make, we all know that with these things we look with our hands as well as our eye's..............

Thanks for the info all, much appreciated!!  :happy2:

Im low too

But as you can see with the 19's I don't need spacers, but once the 18's are back on (within a couple of weeks) I think a 10mm+12mm should be good to go!

spoke to a guy who put 15's on the front and back of an audi s5 and wasn't happy with the handling after it so the fronts came off.
