Title: Swapping Rear Shocks
Post by: bobby_fodge on May 10, 2020, 12:15:47 am
Hi, I have some new shocks to fit. Will I be able to undo the nut on top of the rear shocks without an impact gun?

I imagine if I just use a socket the shock will spin, I could just use pipe grips to hold the shock still.

obviously much easier with a gun but very possible. Top few threads are flat so easier to use vice grips and an O ring spanner. Didnt need penetrating fluid

I don't recall having any trouble undoing mine with hand tools, I don't think they're that tight.

Yeah a normal hand job will be fine on the rear shocks.  It's the fronts that need impacting, or the right deep throat spanners and Popeye arms.
