Title: WHATS THIS ED30 WORTH
Post by: ljc19630 on August 31, 2021, 03:09:09 pm

I'm flying up to Glasgow tomorrow to view it as been looking for a one owner low miler for an age.
Whilst i know these are appreciating in price 13.5k is a no no, but what you all think its worth?

It was bought at auction, and looking at the retail price on HPI its stating clean @ £9325 and retail @ £10,750

Cheers
Louie

I would pay £9000 with all the right receipts etc, these engines need a lot of maintenance aswell as the DSG.

Thanks bud
I was also considering another black ED30 with 57k and 4 owners inc the present. That went for 10.1k
There is no way he will sell for 9k. I'm angling at starting the bidding at 10k with a ceiling of 11k max

As for the servicing  -  i have another 4dr ed30, and also a KO4 converted GTi (up for sale) hence i know all about the servicing traits etc :-)

What's with the wonky bad boy exhaust?

Christ, my driver's side seat bolster is in better nick than that at 160K!!

I wouldn't pay £13.5k for that.  £10K is nearer the mark.

Lol! That’s old pics. Need
To take new ones once it’s all prepped as giving a final detail to it. I did notice the bolster too. It’s well overpriced, but I’m viewing tomorrow so let’s see what plays out Kev

Sorry bud, did I miss something?    Your black one is epic mate.  That grey one, yeah not so sure on that one but at the end of the day, if it's mint and it's just a wonky exhaust and flattened seat bolsters, it may be worth a punt......but that's a rich price for sure!

We shall see. Flying up to Glasgow so am seriously considering it, but will walk if the price isn’t right. It’s been bought from auction and looking at the HPI I got from my son (Works for Audi Guildford) the retail on it is £10750. He’s likely to have paid 8k? So would make a fair whack even at that price

Yeah he's adding an ED30 tax for sure.

My advice:

Take VCDS or some kind of OBD scanner with you.  If they won't let you scan it, walk away.

Also have a very careful gander underneath to make sure the pinch welds and other areas of the floor aren't buckled.  Have a good sniff around the bumper and body panel shut lines, front chassis legs for straightness and the rear floor for ripples.

It's easy to get excited by a clean exterior and overlook signs of neglect/abuse  :happy2:

Thanks mate that’s sound advice. I’ll bring my VCDS dongle and also my obd scanner.
Hope I don’t get pulled at the airport

I wouldnt pay any more that about 8-9K for it. 13.5 is stupid money.

I would have thought this would fetch £10-11k if as described. Asking price is wildly optimistic imo but, hey, dealer…

Sacked it - Changed my mind mid flight and text the guy advising. Decided not to splash out due to change of heart. So i spent the day with my in laws instead as they are in East Kilbride. Ironically the chap stated that he would have dropped price to 11.5k, but i'd made my mind up to not view the car.

Great advice Kev, i'm selling mine just now - hopefully to a non-messer!

Wow I'm always amazed at how well these prices are standing up.  I paid £8750 for my 58 plate Pirelli 5 years ago, at 49,000 miles!

I wonder what it's worth now at 130,000 miles!

I paid £9250 from a dealer in 2018, at 66k miles

Moving on are you GVK?

I paid £9K for mine 7 years ago with 70K on it.  It's a manual though, so probably would have been 10-11 if DSG.

Likewise, mine's on 160K now and probably not worth a lot    It's worth more to me as a fun practical car than pennies in the bank though.
