Evening folks. I'm looking at a stage 1 remap. A garage near me (Devon) do it for £175. I have asked what I can expect from it and been given the figures 210bhp to 242bhp and torque 280nm to 352nm. The bhp increase doesn't seem much to me as I have been looking at the revo stage 1. Will I notice a lot of change from the torque increase rather than bhp.
I was kind of put off of revo because a few people have said its a bit too brutal and also a new clutch is almost inevitable.
What's your thought, thanks in advance.

210bhp is the stock bhp figure, so I'm a little confused at this.
Revo maps are quite good, they can be set at whatever you wish so they don't have to be that aggressive. I would look at getting an SPS from Revo as well, which allows you to have up to 3 maps plus the anti-theft mode which should allow you much greater control over your maps.
You'll notice a considerable more amount of low down torque and a smoother power delivery with a stage 1 map. As for the wear on the clutch, I ran stage 1+ for over a year with no issues with the clutch. Yes, increasing the torque through it will shorten it's life but provided it is in good condition now you shouldn't have to worry for a while.

Just to confirm it was going from 210 increasing to 242bhp. Had it done today and only had time for a small test drive, but all seems good with a nice increase in torque.
Looking forward to taking it for a proper blitz in the week.

R-tech are now mapping the mk6. Niki got 260bhp from one today (stock). Really smooth curves too

I think they only do stage 1 Maps on the mk6 Engines. I asked for a stage 2 map and they turned the work down as their main focus is 1.8T and Tfsi Engines

Stage 2 is in development. It will be available in the future, I think Niki mentioned later in 2016 although this may change.

I really cant wait that long :D
I've been speaking with unicorn motor developments, they have really good reviews on loads of forums and came back with a decent quote too

You won't go wrong with Unicorn, just stay away from the outfits that will 'remap any vehicle for £149', I daresay that sounds like exactly where the OP went to.....

I agree. Better off paying for for a better service
