The genuine BBS Monza's also have to have the metal tyre valve due to the hollow spokes........you are not able to fit the standard rubber valves.

That is an easy tell off pictures.

Common of the early Mk5 GTI's as I have my original set in the garage.

Mk5 General Area / Re: What hose is underneath the vacuum pump?
« Last post by mjmallia on April 08, 2024, 08:06:04 am »
That is a coolant hose coming from the heater core in the car if I recall, and it connects to a plastic hose junction on the block.  It usually leaks (mine included) due to the rubber seal becoming hard and flat with the engine heat cycles.

Easy enough to replace with the vacuum pump off and then bleed or top the system off.........depending on how quick you are.

Get original from TPS if you have access or dealer.

I had to replace that hose also, due to the oil leak turning that hose to a very soft and sticky mess

Mk5 General Area / What hose is underneath the vacuum pump?

Hey all! Been chasing some oil leaks on my 2008 bpy fsi and was wondering if anyone knew what part number this is?

My vacuum pump was leaking pretty bad, so I replaced that, but it almost looks like something is also leaking from this hose too? Thanks in advance!

Im 50 so out of my boy racer stage !
Lots of cars appeal really, not considered the ones you mention as they can be fairly expensive to run although they are epic cars.
The B7 RS4 would be good if you can find a decent one but again fairly pricey to run.
Not done the M car thing yet, an M2 may be an option though as i prefer something smaller but they are a bit sketchy on the rear end.

How old are you and where are you in life etc? Going from a VAG hot hatch to a slightly newer VAG hot hatch is no bad thing but what about something like an M4? RS4 Avant, C63?

My understanding was that Monzas were made by BBS and Ronal. The BBS wheels were all ‘hollow spoke’ and that effectively means that the rear of the spokes are scooped out in the way that you can see in your pictures. I would always choose BBS over Ronal for that reason by they are very common and not Japanese market only. It may be the case that BBS did make non hollow spoke Monzas but you can tell from the rear either way.

Lots of wheels got the BBS hollow spoke technology. 996 Turbo for example. But for a MK5 they are quite common.
