Title: 1.9tdi Poor Hot Starting
Post by: Tonx on December 20, 2019, 01:26:39 pm
My first post and looking for some advice......

Got myself a commuter golf mk5 1.9tdi 105hp yesterday and as usual there’s a few things

When it’s cold it starts almost immediately, but when hot after an extended period of cranking.

My other half has my old golf with the same engine and that starts immediately either hot or cold any ideas as to how I can remedy this ?

I’ve done a few long trips in it and every other way it seems fine, returning 50+ mpg the same as the other one.

Also the rcd 300 head unit front panel is damaged, am I right in saying I can simply buy another front panel and connect it to the unit that’s already in there ?

I had the same problem starting the car when I had my TDI. I had to replace the starter motor and the problem never happened again.

Have just ordered a new Yuasa 80ah battery as the old one was a brand I’d never heard of available for £40.
It’s arrived, I’ll fit it over the weekend and see if it does anything, if not I suspect I’m heading for a new starter.
Will post when fitted....
